14 enter pleas in busy session of circuit court

Lincoln County Circuit Court officials concluded 2002 with abusy December term, according to court records.
During the most recent court action, 14 people pleaded guilty tovarious crimes and were sentenced by Judge Mike Smith. Someproperty and drug-related crimes highlighted the docket, whichcourt officials indicated was fairly routine.
“We didn’t have anything major,” said Assistant DistrictAttorney Diane Jones.
Those sentenced and their crimes include:
* Antoine Brown, 27, of 112 Ruben Brown Road, Pearl – two countsof uttering forgery and conspiracy. He was sentenced to a total of15 years in prison and ordered to serve the first four years, withthe last 11 on post release supervision. He was also ordered to payfull restitution in his cases.
* Edd Reeves, 53, of 1176 Highway 570 East, McComb – operating amotor vehicle while under the influence of intoxicating liquor. Hewas sentenced to five years and placed in the intensive supervision(house arrest) program to earn probation. He was also ordered topay a $4,000 fine.
* Robin Stewart, 31, of 201 Mildred St. – burglary andconspiracy. He was sentenced to a total of six years and ordered toserve the first 36 consecutive months with the last three years onpost release supervision. He was also ordered to pay a $1,000 andto obtain alcohol and drug treatment.
* Joann Buitt Gifford, 36, of 19038 Pineville Road, Long Beach -unlawful distribution of cocaine and conspiracy. She was sentencedto a total of 25 years in prison and ordered to serve the firstnine, with the last 16 on post release supervision. She was alsoordered to pay a $1,000 fine, $100 restitution and to obtainalcohol and drug treatment while incarcerated.
* Heath E. Garay, 20, of 1577 Opelousas Lane; and Lakisha V.Boling, 23, of 1570 Clark Travis Lane – conspiracy to commituttering forgery and false pretense. Each was sentenced to threeyears in prison and ordered to serve the first 364 days, with thelast two years and one day suspended for five years probation. Theywere also ordered to pay $1,000 fines.
* Lakeita Browder, 22, of 400 Grenn St. – aggravated assault.She was sentenced to 10 years and ordered to serve the first 24consecutive months, with the last eight years suspended for eightyears post release supervision. She was also ordered to pay a$1,500 fine, $500 to the crime victims compensation fund and $1,298restitution, and to obtain her GED and anger managementcounseling.
* James Arnold, 42, of 1726 Brignal Road – nine counts ofuttering forgery. He was sentenced to 15 years and also ordered topay a $2,000 fine and full restitution.
* Timothy Ray Dunn Jr., 21, of 2157 Jackson-Liberty Road -burglary of an automobile and conspiracy. He was sentenced to atotal of two years and placed in the Regimented Inmate Discipline(RID) program to earn probation. He was also ordered to pay a$1,000 fine and to obtain alcohol and drug treatment.
* Marjoe Smith, 27, of 566B Halbert Heights Road – shooting intoa dwelling and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. He wassentenced to a total of eight years and ordered to serve the firstfive, with the last three suspended for five years post releasesupervision. He was also ordered to pay a $2,000 fine, $3,899restitution and $500 to the crime victims compensation fund, and toobtain anger management counseling.
* Alton Jones, 42, of 1557 Spur Lane – possession of a firearmby a convicted felon. He was sentenced to three years and orderedto serve the first 364 days, with the last two years and one day onpost release supervision. He was also ordered to pay a $1,000fine.
* Steve L. Owings, 45, of Heltonville, Ind. – possession ofstolen property. He was sentenced to five years and ordered toserve the first 36 consecutive months, with the last two years onpost release supervision. He was also ordered to complete a term atthe restitution center and to pay a $500 fine and fullrestitution.
* William C. Harrell II, 38, of 302 Georgetown St., Hazlehurst -possession of methamphetamine. He was sentenced to three years inprison, which was suspended for five years probation. He was alsoordered to pay a $3,000 fine and $100 restitution, to receivealcohol and drug treatment counseling and to perform 60 hours ofcommunity service work under the direction of Brookhaven OutreachMinistries.
* Brad Smith, 27, of 1077 Crooked Lane – obtaining possession ofhydrocodone by misrepresentation or fraud and conspiracy. He wassentenced to three years and ordered to receive alcohol and drugtreatment counseling. He was also ordered to pay a $2,000 fine,$100 restitution and to perform 70 hours of community service workunder the direction of Brookhaven Outreach Ministries.
