Services for Cordelia Stancil “Miss Cordia” Porter of theArlington Community are 11 a.m., Tuesday, Jan. 7, at BrookhavenFuneral Home Chapel with burial in Ramah Baptist ChurchCemetery.

Visitation is Tuesday from 9-11 a.m. at the funeral home.

Mrs. Porter, 92, died Jan. 5, 2003, of congestive heart failureat King’s Daughters Medical Center. She was born on May 8, 1910, toW. O. Stancil and Leona Elizabeth Turner Stancil. She attendedArlington High School. She lived most of her life in Baton Rougeand retired to Lincoln County.

She was employed with J. A. Jones Construction Company duringWorld War II in various cities, especially in Florida. She wasactive with the Louisiana Legislature. She was a member of RamahBaptist Church.

Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband, FloydPorter; and eight brothers and sisters.

Survivors are her sister, Olga Stancil Smith of Smithdale; hernieces and nephews, Rita Keene Smith of Whitehouse, Tenn., MaryNeal Sibley of Palm Harbor, Fla., Trudie Stroupe of New Orleans,Velma Reese Jenkinson of Rose, Texas, Jan Smith Busby of Arlingtoncommunity, Sarah Freeman, Lucille Smith and Dan Paul Smith, all ofBrookhaven, and Eva Davis of Bay St. Louis; two special cousins,Annie Julia Qualls of Marietta, Ga., and Julie Faye Austin ofDouglasville, Ga.; two special friends, Hattie Thompson and RenaeJohnson, both of Brookhaven; her sister-in-law, Mable Stancil ofBrookhaven; and a host of great nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be Jack Combs, Butch Coker, David L. Smith,Hulon Brown, Henry Johnston and Ray Smith.
