Services for Willie Briggs of Roxie are 2 p.m., Saturday, Jan.11, at Mt. Olive M. B. Church in Kirby with burial in BriggsCemetery in Kirby.
Visitation is today from noon through 5 p.m. at Tyler FuneralHome.
Mr. Briggs, 80, died Jan. 6, 2003, at St. Dominic’s Hospital inJackson. He was born in Franklin County on Feb. 17, 1922, to ElbertBriggs and Alvain Byrd Briggs.
He was a retired maintenance worker for U. S. Forestry inMeadville. He was a member of Mt. Olive M. B. Church.
Preceding him in death were his parents; his wife, Edna ByrdBriggs; his son, Charles H. Briggs; and his brother, MillertBriggs.
Survivors are his son, Elbert B. Briggs of Roxie; his daughters,Willie Mae Bailey of Jackson, Lavern Ray of Chicago, BillieWilliams of Smithdale, and Denise Taylor of Slidell, La.; and 15grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces andnephews.
