Services for William Alvie Mahaffey of Sontag are 2 p.m.,Friday, Jan. 17, at Shiloh Baptist Church with burial in the churchcemetery.

Visitation continues today until 1:30 p.m. at Wilson FuneralHome.

Mr. Mahaffey, 78, died Jan. 15, 2003, at Lawrence CountyHospital. He was born in Sicily Island, La., on Feb. 19, 1924, toWilliam Albert and Bertha Inez Mahon Mahaffey.

He was retired as postmaster for Sontag. He was a member ofShiloh Baptist Church. He was a member of the Fair River MasonicLodge. He was a veteran of WWII, serving in France.

Preceding him in death were his parents; his wife, Willie BeaDaughdrill Mahaffey; and his brother, Malcolm Mahaffey.

Survivors are his sons, Dicky Mahaffey and Billy Mahaffey, bothof Sontag; his sister, Carolyn Marie Douglas of Sontag; and fourgrandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
