Services for Homer Batteast of Brookhaven are 2 p.m., Friday,Jan. 31, at Friendship Missionary Baptist Church with burial in thechurch cemetery.

Visitation is today from noon – 5 p.m., at Tyler FuneralHome.

Mr. Batteast, 87, died Jan. 25, 2003, at King’s DaughtersMedical Center. He was born in Brookhaven on Feb. 15, 1915, toCharlie Batteast and Hazel Johnson Batteast.

He was a retired employee of Car Town Mobile Homes. He was amember of Friendship Missionary Baptist Church. He served in thearmy during World War II.

Preceding him in death were his parents; his wife, EstellaThomas Batteast; his brothers, Walter Smith and Robert Batteast; asister, Charliestine Lewis; a son, Homer Lee Batteast Jr.; andthree grandchildren.

Survivors are his sons, Willie Earl Batteast of Brookhaven, andBennie Robinson of Chicago, Ill.; his daughters, Margie Alford andDorsey Goodwin, both of Brookhaven; his sisters, Bertha Browder ofBrookhaven, and Aline Arnold of Chicago; and 10 grandchildren; and12 great-grandchildren; and nine great-great-grandchildren.
