Services for Herbert Marion Deer of Bogue Chitto are 11 a.m.,Saturday, Feb. 1, at Navilla Baptist Church with burial in thechurch cemetery. Hartman Funeral Home of McComb is in charge ofarrangements.

Visitation is today from 5-9 p.m., and Saturday from 9-11 a.m.,at the church.

Mr. Deer, 85, died Jan. 30, 2003, at King’s Daughters MedicalCenter. He was born in Pike County on Feb. 27, 1917, to Marion Deerand Minnie McKenzie Deer.

He was a farmer and logger. He was a member of Navilla BaptistChurch. He served in the army.

Preceding him in death were his parents; his daughter-in-law,Delilla Spears Deer; two grandsons, David Deer and Jeffery Deer;his brothers, Harvey Deer, Roy Deer, Jones Deer, Ray Deer, KirbyDeer, Walter Deer, William Deer, Charlie Deer, Ford Deer, StanleyDeer and Floyd Deer; and his sisters, Dora Coker, Evelyn Phelps,Grace Falkie, Gladys D. Smith.

Survivors are his wife of 67 years, Elease Hutchinson Deer ofBogue Chitto; his son and daughter-in-law, Hubert Deer and DorisBrown Deer of Smithdale; his daughters and son-in-law, Hazel DeerKent and Patsy Deer Dillon McInnis and Billy, all of Bogue Chitto;his brother and sister-in-law, Burt Deer and Fran of McComb; hisgrandchildren, Keith Deer, Tracy Deer, Kevin Deer, Mark Kent,Angela Kent, Roger Kent, Robin Kent, Michelle Teague, John Teague,Stacy C. Dillon, and Stacy L. Dillon; his great-grandchildren, JessKent, Kaile Kent, Dale Kent, Kodie Kent, Meloni Stewart, SummerTeague, Luke Teague, Brittney Dillon, Taylor Dillon and HaileyDillon.

Pallbearers will be Ralph Deer, Jimmy Deer, Harrold Deer, PaulDeer, Jewell Deer, Kerry Deer, Kenneth Gatlin and Greg Maxwell.Honorary pallbearers will be Fred G. Deer, Lee W. Deer and GeneDeer.
