Co-Lin splits fastpitch twinbill

DECATUR – The Co-Lin Lady Wolves split a fastpitch softballdoubleheader with the East Central Lady Warriors Tuesday.

Co-Lin whipped East Central 19-0 in the opener but fell to theLady Warriors 6-5 in the finale. The Lady Wolves are 8-1 on theseason. They play a Thursday twinbill at Holmes Community Collegein Goodman, starting at 3 p.m.

In the opener, Holli Hankins powered the Lady Wolves, going4-for-4 (including a home run and a double) at the plate for 5 RBI.Katie Fallin and Danielle Ross were 3-for-3. Jennifer Dotty was2-for-2 with 3 RBI. Casey Ward had 4 RBI (Including a grand slamhome run) and Holli Bass followed with 2 RBI.

Fallin was the winning pitcher with seven strikeouts and one hitallowed.

“I was very pleased with the way we swung the bats in the firstgame,” said Co-Lin fastpitch coach Allen Kent. “We pounded out 16hits including 2 home runs.”

East Central 6, Co-Lin 5

The Lady Wolves led 5-2 going into the bottom of the seventhinning when the Lady Warriors rallied for four runs in the comebackwin. Ashley Davis was the losing pitcher.

The Lady Wolves were led by Ross with a 2-run homer and asingle. Ward doubled twice for 2 RBI. Ginny Dunaway ripped a doubleand a single.

“The second game was an embarrassing loss for us,” said Kent.”We did not swing the bats well against their third string pitcher.We started all freshmen in the second game and just couldn’t getanything going when we needed it.”
