While investigating, the chief said police were able to get thename of one suspect in the shooting.

“We also have warrants for two other suspects,” Hendersonsaid.

On Sunday, officers patrolling in the Fulton Street area heardseveral rounds of gun fire around 2:30 p.m. An investigationyielded a vehicle description that matched the one used in theSaturday incident.

By the time officers were able to identify the owner of thevehicle, he had left town, Henderson said.

The chief said Dalton was apparently a passenger in the vehicleand had nothing to do with the actual shooting. Dalton remained injail Wednesday.

“Until we clear this up, the charges against Dalton willremain,” Henderson said.

Henderson said the shootings involved a group of juveniles whohang out in the South First Street area. He did not consider itgang-related.

“It seems this incident is stemming from an incident thathappened three or four years ago in the county,” the chief said.”It was something that happened in the county and spilled over intothe city.”

Henderson did not elaborate.

While no one was injured in the shooting incidents, Hendersonsaid police are taking them very seriously.

“We’re not going to put up with any guns in this town,” thechief said.
