Services for George Myron Anderson of Brookhaven are noon,Thursday, March 27, at St. Francis of Assisi Church with burial inRiverwood Memorial Park.
Visitation is today from 5-9 p.m. at Harrigill Funeral Home,with the Rosary at 7 p.m.
Mr. Anderson, 88, died March 24, 2003, at King’s DaughtersMedical Center. He was born in Colfax, Ill., on Dec. 5, 1914, toCharles Anderson and Mary McComb Anderson. He moved to Brookhavenfrom Downey, Calif., in 1995.
He was retired as a repairman for Sears Roebuck and Company with33 years service. He was a member of St. Francis of Assisi Church.He was a member of the Knights of Columbus and the American Legion.He was an Army veteran of WWII, serving in the 143rd InfantryRegiment, 36th Infantry Division in Italy. He was a prisoner of warin Germany for 16 months. He was awarded the Combat InfantrymanBadge, EAME Medal and three Bronze Stars.
Preceding him in death were his parents, his first wife,Elleanor McGinnis Anderson; his sister, Gladys A. Zellman; and hisbrother, Glenn Anderson.
Survivors are his wife, Mary Lou McGovern Anderson ofBrookhaven; his stepdaughters, Mary Ann S. Allen of Bellflower,Calif., and Patricia Lynn S. Jones and her husband Jesse ofRidgeley, W. Va.; his stepsons, Jimmy Summerlin and his wifeJohnnie of Bakersfield, Calif.; his nephew, Bill Zellman and hiswife Barb; his nieces, Judy A. Caffiero and Linda A. Abert; hissister-in-law, Mildred Anderson; and seven grandchildren and 13great-grandchildren.
