Services for “Nanny” Verlyn Vaughan of Brookhaven are 3 p.m.,Monday, April 14, 2003, at Macedonia Baptist Church with burial inthe Macedonia Church Cemetery.

Visitation is Sunday, April 13, 2003, from 4-9 p.m., and Mondayfrom 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Brookhaven Funeral Home.

Mrs. Vaughan, 78, died April 11, 2003, at St. Dominic Hospitalin Jackson. She was born in Lincoln County on Sept. 24, 1924, toGeorge W. Smith and Ada Jayne Smith Smith.

She was a servant of the Lord and a homemaker. She was a memberof Macedonia Baptist Church where she was a member of WMU andserved as church hostess. She was a Sunday school teacher for twoand three year olds for over 50 years.

Preceding her in death were her parents, and a daughter, DeborahJayne Vaughan.

Survivors are her husband, Julius “Peck” Vaughan of Brookhaven;her sons and daughters-in-law, Mickey and Paula Vaughan of Pearl,and Tim and Robin Vaughan, and Billy and Nancy Vaughan, all ofBrookhaven; her daughter and son-in-law, Chris and Roger Maddox ofBrookhaven; her brother and sister-in-law, the Rev. Jimmie T. andMary Smith of Brookhaven; her sisters and brothers-in-law, Francesand G.B. Bowman of Pelahatchie, and Henrietta and J.B. Britt ofBrookhaven; her grandchildren and their spouses, Michele and BillyJohnson of Pearl, Mitch and Rhonda Vaughan of Fayetteville, N.C.,Paige and Reggie Pierce of Brookhaven, Sarah and Jerimy Powell ofBrandon, Jonathan and Kristi Sherwin of Pearl, Trey and TrentMaddox of Brookhaven, Jennifer and Vincente Monchavias of Laurel,Brandi and Emily and Ruth Vaughan of Brookhaven; and hergreat-grandchildren, Daniele Carpenter of Pearl, Chelsea Vaughanand Sean Michael Vaughan of Fayetteville, N.C., and Darron Pierceof Brookhaven.
