Man killed in collision

A Brookhaven man was killed Wednesday morning in two-vehicleaccident on East Lincoln Road, authorities said.

John T. Case, 71, of 1362 Union St., Apt. 16E, died followingthe head-on collision that happened around 8:15 a.m. on EastLincoln Road approximately three miles south of the Highway 84bypass.

“He was pronounced dead at the scene at 9 a.m.,” said LincolnCounty Coroner-Medical Examiner Clay McMorris.

According to the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Department accidentreport, Case, driving a 1992 Dodge, was traveling north when hecollided with a southbound 1985 Nissan, driven by Linda R. Johnson,63, of 583 China Grove Road, Jayess. The Brookhaven FireDepartment’s Jaws of Life were needed and the road was blocked forabout 45 minutes while emergency services personnel worked thescene.

Johnson was taken to King’s Daughters Medical Center, where shewas treated and released, a hospital spokeswoman said.

McMorris said an autopsy on Case was done Wednesday night atMississippi Mortuary Services. Harrigill Funeral Home is in chargedof Case’s arrangements, which are incomplete.
