Services for Tommy Lee Avants of Bogue Chitto were 2 p.m.,Saturday, May 10, at Harrigill Funeral Home Chapel with burial inPleasant Hill Baptist Cemetery.
Mr. Avants, 82, died May 8, 2003, at his residence. He was bornin Bogue Chitto on Sept. 11, 1920, to William Alonzo Avants andMyrtis Lavenia Burns Avants.
He was a retired self-employed painter. He was a member ofPleasant Hill Baptist Church. He was a World War II armyveteran.
Preceding him in death were his parents; his wife, Nina MarieReid Avants; and a son, Michael Lee Avants.
Survivors are his sons, Roger Dale Avants and Danny ThomasAvants, both of Bogue Chitto; his daughters, Wanda Gayle Williamsonof Ruth, and Deborah Williams of Brookhaven; his brother, JamesAvants of Ferriday, La.; his sisters, Jo Pearl Allen of Jackson,and Aline Porter of Bogue Chitto; seven grandchildren; sixgreat-grandchildren; and a special friend, Mildred Smith.
Shari Harveston Blackwell
Services for Shari Harveston Blackwell of Monticello are 11a.m., Tuesday, May 13, at Antioch Baptist Church with burial in thechurch cemetery.
Visitation is today from 5-9 p.m., at Wilson Funeral Home, andTuesday from 9-11 a.m., at the church.
Mrs. Blackwell, 41, died May 8, 2003. She was born in Lovington,N.M., on Sept. 19, 1961, to Glynn Blackwell and Doris McCoyBlackwell.
She was a homemaker. She was a member of the Baptist faith.
Survivors are her daughters, Brandy Harveston Robbins ofClinton, Crystal Harveston and Ashley Harveston, both ofMonticello; her brothers, Glynn Blackwell Jr., of Milton, Fla.,Rodney Blackwell of Jackson, La., and John Blackwell of Starkville;her sister, Shelia Soileau of Lumberton, Texas; and onegrandchild.
Jackie Edwin Cannon
Graveside services for Jackie Edwin Cannon of Brookhaven are 11a.m., today in Cold Springs Church Cemetery.
Mr. Cannon, 39, died May 10, 2003, at his residence. He was bornin Lincoln County on Feb. 8, 1964, to Charles S. Cannon and WinnieMeade Delaughter Cannon.
He was disabled. He was a member of Bogue Chitto BaptistChurch.
Preceding him in death were his parents and two brothers.
Survivors are his wife, Angie Blackledge of Brookhaven; hisdaughter, Chelsea Hope Cannon of Brookhaven; and his sisters, RoseMary Hocker of Bogue Chitto, Lynda Roberts and Dixie Boyd, both ofJayess.

Mrs. Smith, 85, died May 12, 2003, at Beverly Health Care. Shewas born in Lincoln County on May 10, 1918, to Sidney Lee Price andMamie Dale Smith Price.
She was a homemaker. She was a member of First United MethodistChurch.
Preceding her in death were her parents.
