Henry P. “Pete” Carruth Jr.

Services for Henry P. “Pete” Carruth Jr., of Summit are 10 a.m.,Thursday, May 22, at Mars Hill Baptist Church with burial in thechurch cemetery.

Visitation is today from 5-8 p.m., at Catchings Funeral Home inMcComb, and Thursday from 9-10 a.m., at the church.

Mr. Carruth, 79, died May 20, 2003, at Southwest MississippiRegional Medical Center in McComb. He was born in McComb on Nov.30, 1923, to Henry P. Carruth Sr., and Eugenia Hewitt Carruth.

He was a retired painter for Illinois Central Railroad with 37years service. He was a World War II Army and Air Force veteran,serving in the Pacific in Papua New Guinea, The Phillipines andJapan. He was a member of Mars Hill Baptist Church, where he was adeacon, a Sunday school superintendent, served on the building andgrounds committee and the cemetery committee, and was instrumentalin the construction of the new fellowship hall. He was a member ofJohn A. Quitman Masonic Lodge in the Auburn community, where he wasa past Master.

Preceding him in death were his parents; a brother, NevilleCarruth; and a grandson, Warren Dykes.

Survivors are his wife of 55 years, Lillye Fae Boyd Carruth ofSummit; his son, Randy Carruth of Summit; his daughter, DianneCarruth of Summit; his brother, Melroy Carruth of Jackson; hissister, Evelyn Brown of Bogue Chitto; and three grandchildren andsix great-grandchildren.

Ruby Paxton

Services for Ruby Paxton of Brookhaven are 11 a.m., Friday, May23, at Center Street Church of Christ with burial in HillcrestCemetery.

Visitation is Thursday from noon until 7 p.m., with family hourfrom 6-7 p.m., at Williams Mortuary.

Mrs. Paxton, 73, died May 17, 2003, at her residence. She wasborn in Lincoln County on March 13, 1930, to Will Henderson andArdella Henderson.

She was retired. She was a member of Center Street Church ofChrist.

Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband, SheltonPaxton; four brothers, Charles Henderson, Arthur Henderson, MarzellHenderson and Arvell Henderson; and three sisters, Willie MaeFriday, Lizzie Williams and Inez Henderson.

Survivors are her son, Bobby Paxton of Brookhaven; her daughtersand son-in-law, Carolyn and Frenchie Butler of Brookhaven, andShirley Paxton of Jackson; her brothers and sister-in-law, JamesLee Henderson of Brookhaven, and Epharim and Linda Henderson ofChicago, Ill.; her sister, Mary McClain of Chicago; and hergrandson, Ricky Paxton of Brookhaven.
