Services for Virgie King Smith of Bogue Chitto are 2 p.m., todayat Brookhaven Funeral Home Chapel with burial in Gum Grove BaptistChurch Cemetery. Brookhaven Funeral Home is in charge ofarrangements

Mrs. Smith, 91, died June 15, 2003, at her residence. She wasborn in Lincoln County on Nov. 11, 1911, to Hillary H. King andDora Terrell King.

She was retired from Bogue Chitto School Cafeteria. She was amember of Johnson Grove Church of Christ.

Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband, Fred B.Smith; eight brothers, Willie King, Dock King, Martin King, HoraceKing, Floyd King, Hugh King, Enoch King and Seymour King; and asister, Lottie King.

Survivors are her son and daughter-in-law, Alton K. and MarieSmith of Bogue Chitto; her daughter, Maxine Porter of Bogue Chitto;her brother, Curtis King of Bogue Chitto; her sisters-in-law,Pauline King of Bogue Chitto, and Hazel King of Brookhaven; hergrandsons and their spouses, Fred and Becky Porter of Slidell, La.,Mark and Michelle Porter, John Anthony “Tony” “Teddy” Porter, andKelly and Beverly Porter, all of Bogue Chitto; and hergreat-grandchildren, Amanda and Ashley Porter of Slidell, andKensey Porter of Bogue Chitto; and a number of nieces andnephews.

Elmerita Durr Case Whittington

Services for Elmerita Durr Case Whittington of Gloster are 2p.m., Wednesday, June 18, at Philadelphia Baptist Church Old Chapelwith burial in the church cemetery.

Visitation is today from 5-9 p.m., at Brookhaven FuneralHome.

Mrs. Whittington, 78, died June 16, 2003, at St. DominicHospital in Jackson. She was born in Lincoln County on Aug. 22,1924, to Elmer Durr and Alma Smith Durr.

She was a homemaker. She was a member of Philadelphia BaptistChurch.

Preceding her in death were her parents; her first husband,Clinton “Hot” Case; and a grandson, Thad Barksdale.

Survivors are her husband, Gordie Whittington of Gloster; hersons and daughters-in-law, Clint and Sue Case of Madison, and Dwainand Robin Case of Brookhaven; her daughter, Kay Barksdale ofBrandon; her brother, Ben M. Durr of Uvalde, Texas; her sisters,Maxine Thompson of Hazlehurst and Juanita Smith of Atmore, Ala.;her grandchildren, Andy and Sharon Case of Shreveport, La., Shawand Roxanne Case of Madison, Emily and Wesley Ferguson of Brandon,Carrie and Jason Forrest and Hunter Case, all of Brookhaven; andher great-grandsons, Taylor and Tanner Harrison, and PeytonCase.

Joe Winston

Services for Joe Winston of Brookhaven are 1 p.m., today at St.Paul Missionary Baptist Church with burial in New Zion Union ChurchCemetery in Bogue Chitto.

Mr. Winston, 68, died June 10, 2003. He was born on April 12,1935, to Joseph and Blanchie Winston.

Preceding him in death were his parents; his wife, Irma LeeWoods; a sister, Louise Watts; and a son, Jackie Ray Winston.

Survivors are his daughters, Janice M. Hartwell and Debbie S.Winston, both of Brookhaven; his sister, Sarah Young of Jackson;two grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces,nephews and friends.
