Services for Alvin “Al Baby” Cooks of Natchez were June 21,2003, at Macedonia Baptist Church with burial in Grove AfricanMethodist Episcopal Church Cemetery. R.D. Mackel and Sons was incharge of arrangements.

Mr. Cooks, 43, died June 14, 2003, at University Medical Centerin Jackson. He was born in Adams County on Nov. 27, 1959, to WillieLee Dickey and Janie Cooks Dickey.

He was employed at J.M. Jones Lumber Company. He was educated inthe Adams County Public School System. He was a member of theBaptist faith.

Preceding him in death were his parents; his sisters, KatieDickey and Barbara Cooks; and a nephew, Lloyd Cooks.

Survivors are his daughter, Brandy Cooks of Providence, R.I.; ason; seven brothers, Willie Earl Dickey of Bogalusa, La., ThomasEarl Dickey, Cyrus Mitchell, Billie Joe Washington, Melvin Cooksand John Cooks, all of Natchez, and Frank Cooks of Port Gibson; hisaunts, Mary Helen Carter and Earline Williams, both of Brookhaven,Rosie Lee Ross and Gladys Cook, both of Natchez; his uncles,Roosevelt Owens of Natchez and Archie Dickey of Jackson; and anumber of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
