Two physical therapy facilities represent a shot in the arm forBrookhaven and Lincoln County in more ways than one.
The Human Performance Company will open its new Healthplex laterthis month. HPC officials say the facility will merge physicaltherapy services and general fitness activities under one newroof.
Also, King’s Daughters Medical Center last week broke ground onan expansion for the hospital’s physical therapy center.
KDMC officials said the expansion will provide space for moreservices to accommodate increased interest that has grown over thepast year. The addition is expected to be completed in about threeto four months.
From a benefits standpoint, the two facilities will help injuredclients rehabilitate so they can return to work or enjoy otheraspects of life. The facilities are also putting an emphasis onencouraging and helping citizens to get back into shape or to stayfit and to lead healthier lives.
Another benefit of the two projects is less obvious. That comesin the form of economic development.
Quality of health care facilities is one factor that businessand industry leaders consider when deciding where to locate a newplant or expand a current. Lincoln County can boast of a stronghealth care community already.
Projects like The Healthplex and the KDMC expansion will help tomake the community healthier — both physically andeconomically.
