Editor’s Note: Today The DAILY LEADER continuesa special question-and-answer series with candidates in someimportant upcoming county elections. Featured today is the race forDistrict Four Supervisor. Both candidates are participating.
Do you think Lincoln County needs to upgrade the opticalscanner equipment used for voting in county elections? Pleaseexplain your answer.
Charles Davis: I feel our tax dollars could bespent better on our roads than upgrading the optical scannerequipment. The equipment can wait; our roads can’t.
W.D. “Doug” Moak: Not unless it is fullyfederally-funded. The county recently purchased a scanner, and I amnot aware of any significant problems being encountered.
What needs does your district have that are differentfrom the other four supervisor districts? Explain how you can makethe best use of the available funds to meet the needs of yourdistrict.
Charles Davis: I am not sure the needs of mydistrict are different from the other districts. I will do the bestI can with the funds available to me.
W.D. “Doug” Moak: I think all districts havethe same basic needs. We need to continue to seek funding from anystate, federal or grant program. Equipment maintenance andcompetent personnel are also important factors.
Thursday: Supervisor District Five.
