Graveside services for Lenard Uther “Buddy” Thames of Ruth are11 a.m., Friday, Aug. 8, in Roberts Memorial Cemetery in LawrenceCounty.

Visitation is Thursday from 5-10 p.m., at Brookhaven FuneralHome.

Mr. Thames, 59, died Aug. 6, 2003, at Mississippi BaptistMedical Center in Jackson. He was born in Lawrence County on July17, 1944, to Lenard Thames and Isabell Ballard Thames.

He was a retired welder and salesman. He was a member of UnionBaptist Church, and was an avid sportsman.

Preceding him in death were his parents; a daughter, ChristineMichelle Thames; and three sisters.

Survivors are his wife, Sherrone Thames of Pascagoula; hisdaughter, Glenda Sue Heartsfield of Lucedale; his sons, LeonardThames and Dennis Thames, both of Hurley, and Michael Upton ofBrookhaven; his stepdaughter, Tarah Trouts of Escatawpa; hisstepson, Thaddaeus Rudd of Corinth; his sisters, Ann Peden and OmaJean Summers, both of Ruth, and Ethel Evans of Grand Bay, Ala.; hisbrother, Ethan Thames of Ruth; 11 grandchildren; and a host ofnieces and nephews.
