Services for Ethel Markham of Brookhaven, are 11 a.m., Friday,Aug. 15, at St. Mark M.B. Church in Brookhaven with burial inHillcrest Cemetery in Brookhaven. Tyler Funeral Home is in chargeof arrangements.

Visitation is Thursday from 12-5 p.m. at the funeral home.Family hour is from 5-6 p.m.

Mrs. Markham, 80, died Aug. 11, 2003, at Baptist Hospital inMontgomery, Ala. She was born in Hazlehurst on Dec. 3, 1922, toEugene “Buck” Tanner and Zyphia Tanner.

She was a former Headstart instructor. She was a member of St.Mark M.B. Church where she was a Sunday school teacher for a numberof years. She was also a member of the choir.

Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband, HoustonMarkham Sr.; and her sons, Johnnie and Larry Markham.

Survivors are her daughters, Brenda Davis of Bloomington,Calif.; her sons, Houston Markham Jr. of Montgomery, Robert Markhamof Meridian, Garland Markham of Atlanta, Ga., and Bruce Markham ofRialto, Calif.; her sisters, Thelma Boone of Benton Harbor, Mich.,and Marie Jones of New Orleans; her 14 grandchildren, twogreat-grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews.
