Services for Alene H. Smith of Oakvale are 2 p.m., Thursday,Aug. 21, at Wilson Funeral Home Chapel with burial in Old ArmCemetery.

Mrs. Smith, 89, died Aug. 20, 2003, at Wesley Medical Center inHattiesburg. She was born in Lawrence County on May 17, 1914, toBuford Herring and Katie Ann Kirkland.

She was a homemaker.

Preceding her in death were her parents; her first husband, GuyThurman, and her second husband, C.A. Smith; two sons; and hersister.

Survivors are her daughters; Peggy Daniels of Oakvale andMargaret Nell Stamps of Silver Creek; her son, James Thurman ofMonticello; her brothers, Bobby Herring of Monticello, HiltonHerring of Mendenhall and Melvin Herring of Magnolia; 19grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; and onegreat-great-grandchild.
