Services for Robert “Bob” Herring of Monticello are 3 p.m.,Tuesday, Sept. 9, at Carmel Baptist Church with burial in thechurch cemetery. Wilson Funeral Home is in charge ofarrangements.

Mr. Herring, 80, died Sept. 7, 2003, at Lawrence CountyHospital. He was born in Lawrence County on Jan. 23, 1923, toBuford Herring and Kate Kirkland.

He was a retired equipment operator and a mason. He was a memberof Carmel Baptist Church, where he served as a deacon.

Preceding him in death were his parents; his wife, Dorothy “Dot”Herring; and a son, Kenneth Herring.

Survivors are his daughters, Sandra J. Langston of Silver Creek,Robin G. Shumaker of Monticello, and Michelle Montague ofHattiesburg; his sons, Robert Joe Herring of Monticello, andKenneth Jeffrey Herring of Silver Creek; his brothers, HiltonHerring of Mendenhall, and Melvin Herring of Magnolia, Ark.; 20grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; and threegreat-great-grandchildren.
