Services for Augustus “Bud” Gayten of Brookhaven are 1 p.m.,Thursday, Oct. 16, at Rosehill Missionary Baptist Church withburial in the church cemetery.

Visitation is Wednesday from noon – 7 p.m., with family hourfrom 7-8 p.m., at Williams Mortuary.

Mr. Gayten, 72, died Oct. 9, 2003, at King’s Daughters MedicalCenter. He was born in Lincoln County on Dec. 28, 1930, to WillieGayten and Azula Gayten.

He was retired from the City of Brookhaven, and he was a memberof Rosehill Missionary Baptist Church.

Preceding him in death were his parents; his wife, Ida MaeGayten; three sons; four brothers; and one sister.

Survivors are his daughters, Joyce Ann Wilson Robertson ofOrange County, Calif., Meshelle McCray, Hope Gayten and BeverlyMcCray, all of Brookhaven, and Margaret Gayten of Indian Orchard,Ma.; his sons, Perry Gayten of Indian Orchard, Ma., and JeromeMcCray and Michael Smith, both of Brookhaven; his sister, MarieChapman of Hattiesburg; his brothers, Willie “Sam” Gayten, RobertEarl Gayten and Harold Coleman, all of Brookhaven; 15grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews andother relatives.
