Services for Lettie Lucille Brent of Ruth, formerly ofStronghope, were 11 a.m., Tuesday, Nov. 18, at Stronghope BaptistChurch with burial in the church cemetery. Stringer Funeral Home inHazlehurst was in charge of arrangements. Services were conductedby the Revs. Bobby Smith, Lowell Ingram and Stephen Smith.

Mrs. Brent, 80, died Nov. 16, 2003, at her residence. She wasborn on July 7, 1923, to Rowan and Laura Patterson.

Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband, WillisBrent; her sister; and four brothers.

Survivors are her children and their spouses, Smith and VivianRutland of Ruth, Jimmy and Betty Simmons of Vidalia, La., and Tedand Molly Brent of Laurel; seven grandchildren; and 12great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers were Terrell Rutland, Wayne Rutland, Jeff Rutland,Brent Rutland, Tommy Ferguson and Jimmy Simmons. Honorarypallbearers will be Jimmy Powell, Joney Britt, Mike Brent and TomConn.

Memorials may be sent to Providence Baptist Church Building Fundor Horizon Hospice.

Helen Adams McNeely

Services for Helen Adams McNeely of Roxie were 11 a.m., Tuesday,Nov. 18, at Roxie United Methodist Church with burial in MidwayCemetery in Meadville. Franklin Funeral Home was in charge ofarrangements.

Mrs. McNeely, 83, died Nov. 15, 2003, at her residence. She wasborn in Franklin County on March 28, 1920, to Bryan Adams andCammille Davis Adams.

She was retired from Carter Manufacturing Company, and was amember of Roxie United Methodist Church.

Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband, Earl B.McNeely; and a son, Earl B. McNeely Jr.

Survivors are her daughter, Anita Thomas of Crystal Springs;four grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

Cadmus W. Shipp

Services for Cadmus W. Shipp of Port Gibson, formerly ofBrookhaven, are 10 a.m., Wednesday, Nov. 19, at Glenwood FuneralHome in Port Gibson with graveside services with Masonic rites at 2p.m., in Easthaven Cemetery.

Visitation is Tuesday from 6-8 p.m., at the funeral home.

Mr. Shipp, 85, died Nov. 17, 2003, at Claiborne County Hospitalin Port Gibson. He was born in Dupo, Ill.

He lived in Brookhaven for 60 years, moving to Grand Gulf in1988. He owned and operated Shipps Florist and Nursery for 35years. He was an Army Air Corps veteran, serving in World War II inthe Pacific Theatre. He was a member of the Masonic lodges inJackson and Brookhaven. He was a Shriner and a member of the WahabiTemple in Jackson and Veterans of Foreign Wars.

Survivors are his wife, Beverly Blackmon Shipp of Vicksburg; hisdaughters, Frances Cremer of Diamondhead, and Ann S. Smith ofBrookhaven; four grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.

Mary Ann Ford Steward

Services for Mary Ann Ford Steward of Cedar Rapids, Iowa,formerly of Brookhaven, are 1 p.m., Thursday, Nov. 20, at CenterStreet Church of God in Christ with burial in Jericho churchcemetery.

Visitation is Wednesday from noon-8 p.m., with family hour from7-8 p.m., at Williams Mortuary.

Mrs. Steward, 50, died Nov. 13, 2003, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Shewas born in Brookhaven on Sept. 18, 1953, to Robert Earl Hill andCarrie Ree Kees.

She was disabled and was a member of Center Street Church of Godin Christ. She attended Eva Harris High School and earned herGeneral Education Diploma.

Preceding her in death were her father; a son, Jerry; a sister,Valerie Kees; and three brothers, Herbert Kees, Calvin Hill andBobby E. Lee.

Survivors are her mother, Carrie Ree Kees of Brookhaven; herstepfather, Houston Kees of Brookhaven; her sons, Fredrick D.Steward of Iowa, Jeffery E. Steward of Iowa City, Iowa, and DerrickA. Steward of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; her maternal siblings, Ira JeanWheeler of Crystal Springs, Joyce Redd, Carolyn Brown, VincentKees, Billy Ray Allen and Bobby Allen, all of Brookhaven, EdithMoore and Angela Bobbitt, both of Kingsland, Ga., James H. Kees ofLouisiana, and Harry S. Kees of Summit; her paternal siblings,Robert J. Hill of Brookhaven, and Alfred Hill, Gloria J. Grady,Brenda C. Taylor, Pam McKella and Regina Green, all of Hattiesburg;16 grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relativesand friends.

Services for Robert Versie Warren of Hazlehurst are 10 a.m.,Wednesday, Nov. 19, at Harmony Baptist Church in Crystal Springswith burial in Philadelphia Cemetery in Lincoln County. StringerFuneral Home in Hazlehurst is in charge of arrangements.

Visitation is Tuesday from 5-8 p.m., at the church.

Mr. Warren, 86, died Nov. 16, 2003, at Mississippi BaptistMedical Center in Jackson.

He was a member of Harmony Baptist Church.

Survivors are his wife of 63 years, Christine Warren; hisdaughter, Geraldine “Gerry” Barber of Hazlehurst, and MargaretParker of Charlotte, N.C.; his son, Dr. Robert Warren ofHazlehurst; his sisters, Nell Brister of Tifton, Ga., and LucilleShelton of Pattison; his brothers, Fred Warren Jr. and Lee Warren,both of Wesson; five grandchildren; and eightgreat-grandchildren.
