Luther W. Gill

Services for Luther W. Gill of Brookhaven were 11 a.m.,Wednesday, Dec. 3, at Community Funeral Services Chapel with burialin Easthaven Cemetery.

Mr. Gill, 84, died Dec. 1, 2003, at his residence. He was bornin Franklin County on Jan. 5, 1919, to George W. Gill and LeonaHoward.

He was retired and was a World War II Army veteran. He completed12 years of education, and was a member of the Baptist faith.

Preceding him in death were his parents.

Survivors are his wife of 64 years, Hilda Rae Rollins Gill; hisdaughters, Doris Rae Gill and Betty Buckles, both of Brookhaven;his son, Elton W. Gill of Brookhaven; his sister, Mary Godbold ofMcComb; his brothers, Clyde Gill of Bude, and Chester Gill of NewOrleans, La.; three grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Ruthie Mae Scarbrough

Services for Ruthie Mae Scarbrough of Brookhaven are 2 p.m.,Friday, Dec. 5, at Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church with burialin Macedonia Cemetery.

Visitation is Thursday from noon until 7 p.m., with familypresent from 6-7 p.m., at Tyler Funeral Home.

Ms. Scarbrough, 59, died Nov. 29, 2003, at her residence. Shewas born in Brookhaven on Dec. 12, 1943, to Simon Scarbrough andRosie Lee Cooper Scarbrough.

She was a homemaker, and a member of Macedonia MissionaryBaptist Church.

Preceding her in death were her parents; and five brothers, J.W.Cooper, Willie Armstrong, Fozell Scarbrough, Edward Scarbrough andRedie Scarbrough.

Survivors are her daughters, Carolyn Watson and Angela R.Scarbrough, both of Brookhaven; her sons, Kenneth Ray Scarbrough,Jerome Scarbrough and Kevin Orlando Scarbrough, all of Brookhaven,and Willie E. Scarbrough of Panama City, Fla.; her sister, BertileScarbrough of Brookhaven; her brother, Level Scarbrough ofLouisiana; nine grandchildren; and a host of nieces andnephews.

Billy Ray Smith

Services for Billy Ray Smith of Mathews, La., are 11 a.m.,Thursday, Dec. 4, at Samart Funeral Home in Raceland, La., withburial in Holy Savior Cemetery in Lockport, La.

Visitation is Wednesday from 5-9 p.m., and Thursday from 8-11a.m., at the funeral home.

Mr. Smith, 68, died Dec. 2, 2003. He was born on May 18, 1935.He was a native of Brookhaven.

Preceding him in death were his parents, Virgil and Ruby AllgoodSmith.

Survivors are his

wife, Betty Smith; his daughter, Cynthia Dixon; his son, BillyMitchell Smith; his brother, Huey Smith; seven grandchildren; andfour great-grandchildren.

Larry Tucker

Services for Larry Tucker of Jackson are 2 p.m., Wednesday, Dec.3, at Baldwin-Lee Funeral Home with burial in Lakewood SouthCemetery.

Mr. Tucker, 61, died Dec. 1, 2003, at Central MississippiMedical Center in Jackson.

He was a lifelong resident of Hinds County. He was a pipefitter/driver, having worked for Southeastern Automatic Sprinkler.He was a member of the Baptist faith. He was a avidoutdoorsman.

Survivors are his wife, Wanda Tucker of Jackson; his daughter,Jeanne Tucker of Jackson; his son, Scotty Tucker of Jackson; hissisters, Lois Tucker Wilson of Brookhaven, and Mary McWilliams ofJackson; his brothers, Richard Tucker of Madison, Loyd Tucker ofJackson and Jim Tucker of Crystal Springs; and his dearly belovedgranddogs, Sugar and Allie.
