Lillie Belle Anglin Buie

Services for Lillie Belle Anglin Buie of Ruth are 2 p.m.,Thursday, Dec. 4, at Shady Grove Baptist Church with burial inShady Grove Cemetery. Hartman Funeral Home of McComb is in chargeof arrangements. Services will be conducted by the Revs. GregForbes and Jamie Wallace.

Visitation is Thursday from 1-2 p.m., at the church.

Mrs. Buie, 82, died Dec. 1, 2003, at Southwest MississippiRegional Medical Center in McComb. She was born in New Site inPrentiss County on Dec. 12, 1920, to George Bell Anglin and LilliePearl Denson Anglin.

She was retired after working in the packing department atKellwood for 33 years. She was a member of Shady Grove BaptistChurch for over 56 years and supervised the church nursery for over40 years.

Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband, Hilton”Frog” Buie; her son, James H. Buie; three brothers and twosisters, Dezarie Reynolds, Laymone Anglin, Holland Anglin, BillyAnglin and Betty Jo Valentine.

Survivors are her daughter and son-in-law, Clara and VanMcCullough of Ruth; her sisters and brothers-in-law, Louise Coghlanand Faye and Oscar Cole, all of Bogue Chitto, Delilah and MerrillShaw of Phoeniz, Az., and Jeannine and Carl Martin of Jayess; hergrandchildren and their spouses, Mark Bailey and Van ShotMcCullough Jr., both of Ruth, Richie Bailey and Christina, andTrent Bailey and Susie, all of Salem, and Rochelle Stewart andTimothy of Bogalusa, La.; her stepgranddaughter and spouse, PennyFisher White and Jimmy of Sandy Hook; seven great-grandchildren;and her special friends, Mildred and Ronald Dale Jones ofSummit.

Pallbearers will be Chris Anglin, Mike Buie, Roy Reynolds, MontyMartin, Luckey Martin and Curtis Coghlan. Honorary pallbearers willbe Coy Reynolds, Kenny Coghlan, Henry Reynolds, Greg Martin, SammyBuie, James Mercier Jr. and Eugene Boyd.

Guy Harris Nix Jr.

Graveside services for Guy Harris Nix Jr. of Brookhaven are 2p.m., Friday, Dec. 5, in Easthaven Cemetery.

Visitation is Thursday from 4-8 p.m., at Brookhaven FuneralHome.

Mr. Nix, 76, died Dec. 3, 2003, at King’s Daughters MedicalCenter. He was born in Pittsboro on Nov. 5, 1927, to Guy Harris NixSr. and Pearl Smallwood Nix.

He was retired, and was a World War II veteran, serving in theAir Force. He was a member of the Baptist faith.

Preceding him in death were his parents.

Survivors are his wife, Helen Price Nix of Brookhaven; his sonsand daughters-in-law, Guy Harris Nix III and Debbie, and Gary R.Nix and Kathy, all of Brookhaven; his sister, Mildred Nix Smith ofBrandon; his brother, James C. Nix of Meadville; and hisgrandchildren, Ryan Nix, Amanda Nix, Lauren Nix, Harris Nix andCandie Copeland, all of Brookhaven.

Samuel Edward Oldham Sr.

Memorial services for Samuel Edward Oldham Sr. of Brookhaven,formerly of Jackson, are 11 a.m., Dec. 27, at First UnitedMethodist Church. His body was donated, at his request, to theUniversity of Mississippi Medical Center to help train in themedical field, at his request.

Mr. Oldham, 94, died Dec. 2, 2003, at King’s Daughters MedicalCenter. He was born in West Point on Sept. 14, 1909.

He was a chemist and founder of Missco Paint Corporation inJackson. He was a member of First United Methodist Church.

Survivors are his wife, Jean Ratliff Oldham; his daughter andson-in-law, Bettye Oldham Ware and Clifton of St. Paul, Minn.; hissons and daughter-in-law, Sam Oldham Jr. and Carolyn of Brookhaven,and Scott Crawford Oldham of Chattanooga, Tenn.; fivegrandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
