Maxie Elis Hall

Services for Maxie Elis Hall of Brookhaven were 10 a.m.Saturday, Dec. 20, at Gum Grove Baptist Church with burial in thechurch cemetery.

Mr. Hall, 87, died Dec. 18, 2003, at Country Brook Nursing Home.He was born in Lincoln County on Aug. 25, 1916, to Susan Case Halland Elam Hall.

He was a retired auto supply retail salesman. He was an Armyveteran with service in World War II. He was a member and long-timedeacon of Gum Grove Baptist Church.

Preceding him in death were his parents; two brothers, CharlesHall and Earnie Hall; and his sisters, Vertis Marie Hall and EuniceFaye Hall.

Survivors are his wife, Ella Hall of Brookhaven; his sons anddaughters-in-law, Phil Hall and Cindy, and Bradley Hall and Terrie,all of Brookhaven; his brothers, Denver Hall, Elam Hall Jr. andwife Mary Jane, all of Natchez, and J.D. Hall and wife Pat ofSummit; his grandchildren, Wade Hall, Misty Newman and husbandBilly Newman, Katie Hall, Ashley Hall, Brooks Hall, Lindsey Hall,and Todd Hall and wife Jennifer; and his great-grandchildren, MasonHall, Bailey Hall and Skylar Hall.

Marjorie Glenn Spring Roper

Services for Marjorie Glenn Spring Roper of Smithdale are 2p.m., Tuesday, Dec. 23, at Mt. Gilead Primitive Baptist Church withburial in the church cemetery. Catchings Funeral Home in McComb isin charge of arrangements.

Visitation is Tuesday from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m., at thechurch.

Mrs. Roper, 55, died Dec. 21, 2003, at Southwest MississippiRegional Medical Center in McComb. She was born in Franklin Countyon Oct. 21, 1948, to William Spring and Eloweese Jones Spring.

She was a homemaker, and a member of Mt. Gilead PrimitiveBaptist Church. She attended Calvary Baptist Church atSmithdale.

Preceding her in death were her father and a son, Andrew “Andy”Joseph Roper.

Survivors are her mother, Eloweese Jones Spring of Smithdale;her husband, Joseph L. Roper of Smithdale; her daughter, Mary AnnRoper of Smithdale; her sons, Thomas Charles Roper of Caribou,Maine, and Marc Allen Roper of Smithdale; her sisters, GloriaWicker and Shelia Young, both of Smithdale, and Georgia Daughdrillof Tickfaw, La.; her brothers, Joe Spring, Leroy Spring, JamesSpring and Johnny Spring, all of Smithdale; and numerous nieces,nephews, other family members and friends.
