Services for Ruth Hoffman Carleton of Forest were 10 a.m.,Tuesday, Dec. 23, at Forest United Methodist Church with burial inEastern Cemetery. Ott & Lee Funeral Home in Forest was incharge of arrangements.

Mrs. Carleton, 79, died Dec. 19, 2003, at Newton RegionalHospital.

She was a Brookhaven native and longtime resident of Forest. Shetaught school in Greenwood, Natchez and at Central High School inJackson. In 1955, she married Marshall Carleton, and in 1956, theymoved to Forest to go into the drugstore business with his father.She started teaching in the Forest School System in 1970, andretired in 1990.

Survivors are her husband, Marshall H. Carleton of Forest; herdaughter, Marsha Ruth Frederick of Monticello; her sons, KenCarleton of Philadelphia, and Gene Carleton of Kingston, Tenn.; hersister, Mary Ida Hoffman of Brookhaven; and four grandchildren.
