Those in need helped by citizens’ generosity

Earlier this year, Lincoln County was recognized for itscharitable giving by a nationwide organization. The Chronicle ofPhilanthropy ranked both Lincoln and Franklin counties among thetop counties in the nation for their citizens’ generosity.

Lincoln County was ranked as number one in the state and eighthnationally while Franklin County was ranked 30th in the nation forresidents willingness to give to others.

Over the past several weeks, local folks did it again. Throughthe generosity of area businesses, individuals and organizations,$7,800 was donated to the Holiday Food Pantry Fund.

Those funds were distributed equally to food pantries at StFrancis of Assisi Catholic Church, Union Hall Baptist Church andOutreach Ministries.

Each organization will use the funds to purchase can goods tohelp needy families across the Brookhaven and Lincoln Countyarea.

We thank each of you, from the smallest to the largestcontributors. Every penny counted and will be but to good usehelping those in our area who are in need.
