Lady Jacket Deanna Albritton sacked 1-of-2 free throws with 12seconds left in the game, as host Enterprise picked up ahard-fought 55-54 Division 7-1A win over Bogue Chitto’s LadyBobcats Tuesday night in the Jackets Nest.

Bobcat reserve Anthony Stevenson and starter Aaron Gill eachtossed in 13 points to lead Bogue Chitto in a 63-44 win over theEnterprise Yellow Jackets.

Bogue Chitto defeated Enterprise 29-19 in the JV girls game.

Enterprise travels to Wesson Friday for 3 games, beginning at 5p.m. with a JV boys game. Bogue Chitto continues division actionFriday at Vicksburg St. Aloysius for 3 games, with the JV boys gametipping off around 5 p.m.

Enterprise and Bogue Chitto will meet again Feb. 3 for adivision test, at Bogue Chitto.

Enterprise 55, Bogue Chitto 54

Enterprise (4-12, 2-2) never gave up, despite trailing by adouble-digit margin midway through the first half. The Lady Jacketsjumped out to an early 10-4 lead.

Bogue Chitto (12-6, 2-2) responded with a 23-7 run to take a10-point lead, at 27-17 with nearly 4 minutes left in the firsthalf.

The game was tied 14-14 at the end of the first quarter, butBogue Chitto head coach Jason Kennedy’s team would take a 35-25into the halftime lockerroom.

The Lady Jackets used a 14-5 third period to cut their deficitto 5 points, 44-39, entering the final frame.

Enterprise’s Alisha Mason provided her team a spark in the final8 minutes, scoring 9 points. The 5-foot-8 sophomore finished with agame-high 23 points, with 13 coming in the second half. Mason’slast bucket of the game saw the Lady Jackets go up by 2 points,54-52, with 39 seconds left on the clock.

Bogue Chitto’s Meleah Brown tied the game at 54-54.

Albritton, on the Lady Jackets’ next possession, was fouled. Shecalmly sacked the first-of-2 from the charity stripe to secure thewin.

Lady Bobcat Chasity Avants got a good look at a potentialgame-winning shot, but the ball would not fall through thebasket.

“Chasity got the shot that we wanted but it just did not fallfor us,” said Kennedy following the game. Avants finished the gamewith 17 points, had 5 steals and dished out 7 assists. MarleyPorter and Kimberlee Thomas each grabbed 8 rebounds for BogueChitto.

Bogue Chitto committed only 8 turnovers in the game.

“We played a complete ballgame tonight,” said Enterprise headcoach Billy Vaughn. Alisha played well tonight.” Mason also pulleddown 9 rebounds.

Leading support for the Lady Jackets were Jana Brister with 10,rebounds, 5 steals and 5 assists. Kaylin Burke dished out 8assists. Albritton had 8 rebounds.

Bogue Chitto 63, Enterprise 44

The teams were deadlocked at 14-14 entering the second quarter.Bogue Chitto (7-11, 2-2) entertained a 1-point lead, 25-24 at theintermission.

The Bobcats broke the game open in the third period, outscoringEnterprise 20-8 to author a 44-31 advantage heading into the finalstanza. Stevenson, a 6-foot, 295-pound senior football standout,scored 6 points in the quarter on 3 offensive putbacks and grabbeda game-high 11 rebounds. Gill, a 6-foot senior, pulled down 12rebounds.

“Stevenson stepped up his game tonight,” said Kennedy. Stevensongot a majority of his minutes by filling in for Bobcat startingcenter Irrie Catchings, who was in early foul trouble in the firsthalf.

Enterprise (1-15, 1-3) got a game-high 23 points from CoreySmith, including 12 in the second half. Matt Floyd tossed in 10 forfirst-year head coach Ricky Gray.

“Stevenson was the difference in the game,” said Gray. “MichaelBlackwell had a good game, especially on the defensive end.”

Blackwell finished the game with 11 points, 3 steals and 3assists for the Bobcats.

In the JV game, Bogue Chitto’s Tanesha Johnson and Enterprise’sKacey Rutland each scored 12 points.
