BOGUE CHITTO — Bogue Chitto gave Brookhaven all it could handlefor the first half of Tuesday night’s game in Calhoun Gym. ThePanthers opened the second half with a 16-0 run and flexed theirmuscles to rout the Bobcats 95-52.

Brookhaven defeated Bogue Chitto 36-29 in the JV boys game.

Brookhaven host Division 6-4A foe Wingfield Friday night, inSinclair Gym. Bogue Chitto hosts Salem Friday.

Brookhaven 95, Bogue Chitto 52

The Bobcats (7-11) opened the game with a 12-6 lead. SeniorsAaron Gill and Irrie Catchings were the cornerstones for the earlyadvantage, scoring 4 points apiece in the run.

The Panthers responded with a 10-0 run, garnering a 16-12 leadheading into the second period. Micah Tanner and Michael Thrashereach dialed long distance for Brookhaven. Tanner and Rodney Daniels(2) sacked treys in the second to take an 8-point lead, 37-29 intothe halftime locker room.

Brookhaven canned 6 of their season-high 10 3-point baskets inthe first half.

Panther guard Joaquin Smith scored 10 points (2 treys) in thesecond half run as Brookhaven opened up a 53-29 lead.

“We shot the ball well tonight,” said Panther head coach RonaldHines. “We just wanted to win.”

Brookhaven was in the mist of a 5-game losing streak. ThePanther’s last win came on New Year’s Day against Mendenhall in theLawrence County Tournament.

Smith led 5 Panthers in double-figures with a career-high 23points, 6 rebounds, 5 steals and 4 assists. Tanner followed with acareer-high 21 points (4 treys) and 4 assists. Daniels had 10points, 3 steals, 7 assists and pulled down 16 rebounds. GaneiroRichardson had 4 assists.

Catchings, a 6-foot-3 center, tossed in a team-high 20 points, 4steals and 7 rebounds. Anthony Stevenson had 7 rebounds. MichaelBlackwell dished out 5 assists. Aaron Gill had 3 steals.

Due to injuries, forwards Jasper Hall (shoulder) and Jimmy Johns(ankle) did not dress for the game. Both were injured in lastFriday’s game against Jackson Jim Hill.

Brookhaven outrebounded Bogue Chitto 55-31. The Bobcatscommitted 17 turnovers to the Panthers’ 15.

“Our guys played hard,” said Bobcat head coach Jason Kennedy.”We just need to play a complete game for 32 minutes.”

In the JV boys game, Brookhaven’s Jerome Averyled all scorers with 14 points. Bogue Chitto was led by CoryWashington with 9 points.
