BA girls smash Columbia

COLUMBIA — Lauren Smith and Mallory Logan fired in 13 pointsapiece Friday night to power unbeaten Brookhaven Academy to a 54-35District 4-AA win over Columbia Academy in a battle of Lady Cougarteams.
The Brookhaven Academy girls are ranked No. 1 in the MPSApoll.
BA (30-0, 11-0) led 18-8 over Columbia at theend of the first quarter. The visitors dominated the hosts 27-16 athalftime. BA put the game away with a 27-19 run in the secondhalf.
Adding support to the BA win with 11 points, six rebounds, sixsteals and three assists was Kelli Byrd. Jessie Altman followedwith 10 points and grabbed seven rebounds. Tops off the backboardswith nine rebounds and five assists was Logan.
Anna Patterson led Columbia with eight points.
Junior high game
The BA girls (20-3, 11-1) pounded Columbia 51-19. Leading BAwith 14 points was Holly Case. Netting 10 points each were SallyAllred and Alex Grant. Kelli Snider led off the backboards with 10rebounds.
