Delta Trojans turn back Co-Lin

WESSON — The Co-Lin Wolves dropped a close 4-3 decision to theMississippi Delta Trojans Saturday afternoon at Sullivan Field.

Co-Lin (2-2) trailed Delta (1-0) 3-0 after two and a halfinnings. The Wolves put two runs on the scoreboard on a two-runshot by Justin Sykes to cut the deficit to 3-2.

Mississippi Delta added one run in the top of the fifth for a4-2 lead. Co-Lin added one final run in the bottom of the seventhto cut the deficit to 4-3.

Tony Evans was the winning pitcher in 3 1/3 innings. Absorbingthe loss was Cole Zumbro (0-1) with two runs allowed on three hits,five strikeouts and two walks. Also seeing action for Wolves JacobLeggett, Matthew Fox (6th), Casey Deason (7th), Boycee Varnes (8th)and Ryan Belanger (9th).

“Baseball is a game you have to play every day,” said Co-Linhead baseball coach Keith Case. “We have to go back and get better.We are not swinging the bats well. I am still concerned about ourpitchers.”

For the Wolves, catcher Deigo Nucete and Ben Sandiferdoubled.

Powering the Trojans with a triple and a double was Mark Vance.Singling were Freddie Trinidad, Louis Gonzales, Winn Diggs andTucker Ballard.
