Services for John C. Bowers of Bogue Chitto are 10 a.m., Monday,Feb. 23, at Brookhaven Funeral Home Chapel with burial in RiverwoodMemorial Park Cemetery. Brookhaven Funeral Home is in charge ofarrangements.

Visitation is Sunday from 4:30-9 p.m., at the funeral home.

Mr. Bowers, 75, died Feb. 20, 2004, at King’s Daughters MedicalCenter. He was born in Hartwell, Ga., on Feb. 2, 1928, to WacoBowers and Massie Williams Bowers.

He was a retired poultry and cattle farmer. He served 31 yearsin the Army as a Chief Warrant Officer and was a veteran of theKorean and Vietnam Conflicts. He was a member of the Baptistfaith.

Preceding him in death were his parents; and a brother, WacoBowers Jr.

Survivors are his wife, Barbara Bowers of Bogue Chitto; his sonsand daughter-in-law, Mike Bowers of Brookhaven and David Bowers andDebbie of Brookhaven; his sisters, Elsie Bowers Duncan of Maldon,Mass., and Margie Bowers Smale of Silver Springs, Md.; threegrandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Ivolene Coker

Services for Ivolene Coker of Brookhaven are 2 p.m., Sunday,Feb. 22, at Easthaven Baptist Church with burial in RiverwoodMemorial Park Cemetery. Brookhaven Funeral Home is in charge ofarrangements.

Visitation is Sunday from 1-2 p.m., at the church.

Mrs. Coker, 68, died Feb. 20, 2004, at her residence. She wasborn in Lawrence County on Jan. 11, 1936, to Ivo Lea and NoamieKleinpeter Coker.

She was owner of Children’s World for the past 28 years. She wasa member of Easthaven Baptist Church.

Preceding her in death were her parents.

Survivors are her husband, Clyde Coker Jr. of Brookhaven; herdaughters and sons-in-law, Vickie and Kenneth Goza, and Cathy andRobert Norton, all of Brookhaven; her son and daughter-in-law, theRev. Randall and Sherry Coker of Pensacola, Fla.; her sister andbrother-in-law, Delores and Hubert Greer of Wesson; her brothersand sisters-in-law, Teunnison and Johnnie Lea, T.H. and Margie Lea,Marcus and Kay Lea, Roland and Doris Lea, and Roscoe and MildredLea, all of Brookhaven; her grandchildren, Gabe Goza and wifeCarey, Ben Goza, Joey Norton, Sonny Norton, and Molly Bergstresserand her husband; and many close friends and Sunday Schoolmembers.

Pallbearers will be Gabe Goza, Ben Goza, Sonny Norton, JoeyNorton, Kenny Goza and Robert Norton.

Harold L. Denison

Mr. Denison, 79, died Feb. 18, 2004, at his residence. He wasborn in Walthall County on Feb. 9, 1925, to Dean Denison and JessieOla Hall.

He was a retired school teacher. He was a member of MonticelloBaptist Church. He was a member of Monticello Masonic Lodge, andMonticello Eastern Star. He was secretary of Lawrence CountyDemocratic Party. He was past Superintendent of Education inLawrence County. He was a member of Mississippi Association ofEducators. He was past president of Mississippi Association ofEducators of Copiah County.

Preceding him in death were his parents; and two brothers.

Survivors are his wife, Josie Denison of Monticello; hisdaughter, Elizabeth Ann Dickson of Monticello; his son, DeanDenison of Memphis; his sister, Mary Elizabeth Hobgood of NewOrleans; four grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

Benton Lee Wallace

Services for Benton Lee Wallace of Brookhaven are 11 a.m.,Monday, Feb. 23, at Ruth Baptist Church with burial in RuthCemetery. Brookhaven Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Wallace, 70, died Feb. 20, 2004, at Mississippi BaptistMedical Center in Jackson. He was born in Bogue Chitto on Feb. 21,1934, to Noel Wallace and Cordie Allred Wallace.

He was a retired instrument man for Armstrong Tire and RubberCo. in Natchez. He was a member of Ruth Volunteer Fire Deptartment.He was a member of the Mason Topisaw Lodge. He was a member of RuthBaptist Church, where he was a deacon. He was a Navy veteran withservice in the Korean Conflict.

Preceding him in death were his parents; a son, Johnny LeeWallace; and a granddaughter, Amber Peniston.

Survivors are his wife, Marie Seay Wallace of Ruth; hisdaughters and sons-in-law, Diane and Wayne Branton of Wilmot, Ark.,Deb and Dickie Barrett of Ridgecrest, La., Pam and Robert Wimberlyof Prairieville, La., Paula Keith of Vidalia, La., and PeggyPeniston of Ruth; his brothers, Garland Wallace and Nolan Wallace,both of McComb, and Stewart Wallace of Natchez; his sisters,Nevelyn Netterville of Gloster, Viana Thornhill of Hammond, LindaHarris of Metarie, La., Dimple Hughes of Tampa, Fla., and DebbieCox of Richland; 21 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.

Mr. Welch, 61, died Feb. 19, 2004, at his residence.

He was a cattle rancher. He was a member of Heuck’s RetreatBaptist Church.

Survivors are his wife, Elaine Welch of Flora; his daughter andson-in-law Marie and Mark Cockroft of Carthage; his son, RobertWelch Jr., of Canton; his sister, Laura Ramage of Canton; twonephews, Douglas Ramage of Canton and Timothy Ramage ofWinterspring, Fla.; and eight grandchildren.
