Co-Lin women sweep Holmes

WESSON — The Co-Lin Lady Wolves swept two fastpitch softballgames from Holmes Thursday afternoon. Co-Lin won the opener 13-8and the finale 9-1.

The Lady Wolves improved to 4-0 on the season. Co-Lin finishedthe day with 35 hits and scored 22 runs.

“It was a pretty good day for us swinging the bats,” said Co-Linhead softball coach Allen Kent. “It drizzled rain the first fewinnings and it got a little sloppy.”

Rachel Breaux powered Co-Lin with a triple, two doubles and asingle. Ginny Dunaway ripped two doubles and two singles. Hitting atriple, a double and a single was Courtney Angel. Jennifer Dotydoubled and singled. Collecting two hits apiece were Elise Dixonand Holli Bass.

Sophomore Ashley Davis (2-0) was the winning pitcher with sevenstrikeouts and four walks.

“She (Davis) wasn’t as sharp today, still feeling the effects ofa broken ankle in November,” added Kent. “She gutted it out.”

“We are still battling some injuries, but we hope to get healthybefore division play starts,” said Kent.

In the second game, Breaux directed the Lady Wolves with fourhits, including a pair of doubles for 3 RBI. Ripping three singleswas Dixon. Angel doubled and singled. Dunaway and Bass doubled.Davis and winning pitcher Katie Rouch each posted a pair ofsingles.

Posting the win with two strikeouts and two walks was Rouch(2-0).

“Rouch had another solid performance,” added Kent.
