Services for Lucille L. Boggan of Boynton Beach, Fla., formerlyof Brookhaven, were 11 a.m., Friday, March 19, at Wright &Ferguson Funeral Home with burial in Macedonia Baptist ChurchCemetery in Simpson County.

Mrs. Boggan, 93, died March 12, 2004, at Boynton Beach NursingHome. She was born in 1910, to John Z. and Martha Jane Linton.

She was a Licensed Practical Nurse at Mississippi BaptstHospital in Jackson. She was an active member of Highland BaptistChurch and a participant in the Young At Heart group. She was agolfer and a gardener. After her husband’s death, she moved to herhometown of Brookhaven in 1987, where she was a member of CentralBaptist Church. She moved to Lake Worth, Fla., in 1991, where shewas a member of First Baptist Church.

Preceding her in death was her husband, Milford Boggan.

Survivors are her daughter, Martha Wright; her stepdaughter,Peggy Hightower and her family; her stepson, Thomas F. Boggan andhis family; five nieces and nephews and their families; and her”babies” Abby and Shorty.

Katie Ruth Wallace McCaffery

Services for Katie Ruth Wallace McCaffery of Bogue Chitto are 2p.m., Sunday, March 21, at Catchings Funeral Home in McComb withburial in Moak’s Creek Cemetery.

Visitation is Sunday from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m., at the funeralhome.

Mrs. McCaffery, 63, died March 19, 2004, at the University ofMississippi Medical Center in Jackson. She was born in LincolnCounty on Oct. 4, 1940, to Bailey Arthur Wallace and Daisy PhillipsWallace.

She was a homemaker.

Preceding her in death were her parents; a son, Timothy D.Wallace; a brother, Pete Wallace; and a sister, Georgie Franks.

Survivors are her daughter, Marion Pauli of Magnolia, Texas; hersons, Benjamin Muise and Harry Gene Muise, both of Bogue Chitto;her sisters, Grace Albrecht and Elaine Allred, both of BogueChitto, Reaber Wallace of Summit and Betty McNair of Pasadena,Texas; her brothers, Gene Wallace of Bogue Chitto, and BryantWallace of Summit; 10 grandchildren; six step-grandchildren; andnumerous nieces and nephews.

Mary Lois Mitchell

A memorial service for Mary Lois Mitchell of New Orleans, La.,formerly of Brookhaven, will be held at 3 p.m., Sunday, March 21,at Faith Prebyterian Church.

Mrs. Mitchell, 78, died March 18, 2004, at Maison Hospitalierein New Orleans. She was born in Copiah County on Jan. 21, 1926, toNorvell and Mary Emma Butler Farmer.

She had a varied career in politics and retail. Her most recentoccupation was working for her favorite artist, Frederick Guess, athis art studio in the French Quarter. She was active in her Lady’sBible study and Patio Planters. She was current president of LePetit Theatre Guild in the French Quarter. While living inBrookhaven, she was an active member of Faith PresbyterianChurch.

Survivors are her daughters, Carol Young Milligan of Clinton,and Debbie Druilhet Burris of Abita Springs, La.; her sons, PaulDruilhet Jr. of Saint Rose, La., and David Druilhet of Metarie,La.; six grandchildren; and great-grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to Faith Presbyterian Church inBrookhaven, the American Cancer Society or the Le Petit TheatreGuild of New Orleans, La.

Harold N. Porter

Services for Harold N. Porter of Smithdale are 2 p.m., Sunday,March 21, at Arlington Baptist Church with burial in the churchcemetery. Brookhaven Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Porter, 86, died March 19, 2004, at his son’s residence inBrookhaven. He was born in Lincoln County on Aug. 14, 1917, toWilliam “Bill” N. Porter and Ollie Ratcliff Porter.

He was retired from the shipping deparment of InternationalPaper Co. in Natchez. He was a member of Arlington Baptist Church.He was a member of CCC Camp.

Preceding him in death were his parents; and his wife, EdnaMaude Case Porter.

Survivors are his sons and daughters-in-law, Donald and PeggyPorter, and Gary and Karen Porter, all of Brookhaven, Rickey andConnie Porter of Smithdale, and Phil and Sandy Porter of Stamford,Neb.; 13 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and a host ofnieces and nephews.

Services for Anna Powell of Bogue Chitto are noon Tuesday, March23, at Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church with burial in the churchcemetery. Services will be conducted by the Rev. D.L. Turner.

Mrs. Powell, 92, died March 16, 2004, at McComb Nursing andRehabilitation Center. She was born in Magnolia on Jan. 19, 1912,to Willie Dozier and Lozain Matthew Dozier.

She was a homemaker. She was a member of Mt. Zion MissionaryBaptist Church.

Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband, D.L.Powell; two sisters, Emma Dozier and Clotiel Dozier; and a brother,Robert Dozier.

Survivors are her sisters, Ada Singleton, Hattie Garner andRhoda Dozier, all of New Orleans, La.; and a host of nieces andnephews.

Mrs. Smith, 85, died March 18, 2004, at Renal Care Group. Shewas born in Lincoln County on April 18, 1918, to Otha Bell andAmanda Bell.

She was a homemaker. She was a member of Mt. Wade MissionaryBaptist Church.

Mrs. Smith, 89, died March 18, 2004, at Hospice Ministries inJackson. She was born in Walthall County on Oct. 4, 1914, toWilliam Howard Andrews and Letha Conn Andrews.

She was a buyer and sales lady in merchandising of ladiesclothing for 45 years. She served as a volunteer for auxiliary atKing’s Daughters Hospital. She was a member of First Baptist Churchand Ruth Sunday School Class. She attended Brookhaven PublicSchools.

Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband, Robert LeeSmith; two sisters, Leno Samantha Freeman and Una Mae DeAbate; andher brothers, James Elmo Andrews, Roy Lee Andrews and RobertTalmadge Andrews.

Survivors are her son, Thomas Howard Smith of Brookhaven; herdaughter, Salena Lofton Edwards of Jackson; her sister, DorothyLouise Steele of Provo, Utah; her grandchildren, Mindy Lofton Tew,James Harol Lofton Jr., John Carol Lofton, Joel Robert Lofton,Vanessa Lynn Sheppard, Salena Renee Williams and Thomas Conn”Jubal” Smith; 13 great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces,nephews and other relatives.
