CROSBY – A Brookhaven man was killed Monday afternoon in aone-vehicle accident on Highway 563 in Wilkinson County, said Sgt.Rod Crawford, public affairs officer with the Mississippi HighwayPatrol.

Claude H. Rushing, 59, was traveling north on the highway whenhe apparently lost control on his 1995 International commercialtruck and struck a tree, Crawford said. The accident happened at12.39 p.m. Monday about 2.6 miles south of Crosby.

Crawford said the Jaws of Life were needed to extricate Rushingfrom the vehicle. The accident is still under investigation.

Rushing’s body was taken to Newman’s Funeral Home inCentreville.

Brookhaven Funeral Home is in charge of local arrangements,which are incomplete.
