Services for Myrtice Dearman Doty of Forest are 11 a.m.,Saturday, March 27, at Forest Baptist Church with burial in EasternCemetery. Ott & Lee Funeral Home is in charge ofarrangements.

Mrs. Doty, 95, died March 25, 2004, at Lackey ConvalescentHome.

She was a native of Scott County and lived in the Forest areamost of her life. She was a member of Forest Baptist Church. Shewas a charter member of Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR),and a member of the LaPetite Club and Alpha Psi Omega.

Survivors are her daughter, Susan Doty Adams of Forest; her sonand daughter-in-law, David Sydney Doty and wife Cynthia O’Hare Dotyof Brookhaven; his sister, Elise Dearman Mapp of Monroe, La.; andher sister-in-law, Edna Earle Dearman of Forest.

Memorials may be made to Forest Baptist Church.

James “Jim” F.B. Mason

Services for James “Jim” F.B. Mason of Jayess were 11 a.m.,Friday, March 26, at Wilson Funeral Home Chapel in Monticello withburial in Divide Cemetery.

Mr. Mason, 86, died March 24, 2004, at Lawrence County NursingCenter. He was born in Lawrence County on May 24, 1917, to VanJewitte Mason and Minnie King.

He was a retired pastor and carpenter. He was a former pastor ofNew Hope Pentecostal Church in New Hebron, Rock Hill PentecostalChurch in Monticello, and Calvary Pentecostal Church in CrystalSprings. He was a World War II Army veteran.

Preceding him in death were his parents, his wife, a son, foursisters, two brothers and a grandson.

Survivors are his daughters, Bessie Mae Russell of Monticello,and Amelia Ann Jarves of Kennisaw, Ga.; his son, E.J. Mason ofMonticello; his sister, Faye Calhoun of Columbia; sevengrandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and onegreat-great-grandchild.

Patsy Nell McCardle

Services for Patsy Nell McCardle of Hazlehurst are 11 a.m.,Saturday, March 27, at Sardis Baptist Church with burial in SardisCemetery. Stringer Family Funeral Services is in charge ofarrangements.

Visitation is Saturday from 10-11 a.m., at the church.

Mrs. McCardle, 71, died March 25, 2004, at her residence.

She and her husband operated a dairy farm. Previously, theyoperated a feed and seed store in Brookhaven. She was a lifelongresident of Copiah County. She was an active member of SardisBaptist Church, where she was a former Sunday school teacher andhad served on the church hospitality committee.

Survivors are her husband, J.F. McCardle; her daughter, TrinaSmith of Brookhaven; her son, Jay McCardle of Hazlehurst; hersisters, Lorraine B. Stringer of Hermanville, and Maxine B.McCardle of Hazlehurst; seven grandchildren; and twogreat-grandchildren.

Patricia Reel

A memorial Mass for Patricia Reel of Hattiesburg will be held at11 a.m., Saturday, March 27, at St. Francis of Assisi CatholicChurch. Bradford O’Keefe Funeral Home Orange Grove Chapel inGulfport is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Reel, 47, died March 25, 2004, in Gulfport.

She was a graduate of University of Southern Mississippi,majoring in journalism. She was a resident of Hattiesburg for 27years.

Preceding her in death was her sister, Loyola M. Reel.

Survivors are her parents, Dr. Anton Reel Jr. and Louise CowenReel of Alpharetta, Ga.; her sons, James Benge and Michael Benge,both of Hattiesburg; her sister, Linda L. Reel of Alpharetta; andher brothers, Anton E. Reel III of Washington, D.C., and Ed C. Reelof Alpharetta.

Lena Rodriguez

Graveside services for Lena Rodriguez of Bogue Chitto are 2p.m., Saturday, March 27, in Mt. Zion Church Cemetery.

Visitation is Friday from 2-7 p.m., with family hour from 6-7p.m., at Williams Mortuary.

Mrs. Rodriguez, 61, died March 25, 2004, at University ofMississippi Medical Center in Jackson. She was born in Bogue Chittoon April 29, 1942, to George Milton and Etheline Milton.

She was a homemaker and a member of Mt. Zion Missionary BaptistChurch. She was a 1962 graduate of Eva Harris High School.

Preceding her in death were her father; a sister, LorethaTerrell; and her brother, Earnest Milton.

Survivors are her mother, Etheline Milton of Bogue Chitto; herhusband, John Rodriguez of Fontana, Calif.; her daughter, PhilenaHumphrey-Rodriguez of Birmingham, Ala.; her stepsons, Sal Rodriguezof Jackson Hole, Wyo., and Jon Rodriguez of Munford, Tenn.; hersisters, Dolline Jackson and Glean Wells, both of Bogue Chitto,Linda Kay Milton of Brookhaven, and Lucille Underwood of UpperMarlboro, Md.; and two grandchildren.

Mrs. Smith, 67, died March 20, 2004, at her residence. She wasborn in Bogue Chitto on Nov. 29, 1936, to Sandy Lyons and Mary EllaLyons.

She was a retired factory worker at Reflector Hardware inMelrose Park, Ill. She was a graduate of Alexander High School.

Preceding her in death were her parents; two sons, Thomas Smithand Paul Edward Smith; and three brothers, Lee Lyons, J.C. Lyonsand Bill Swanigan.

Survivors are her daughter, Pamela Smith of Maywood, Ill.; herson, Fred Smith Jr. of Bogue Chitto; her sister, Erma of Vallejo,Calif.; her brothers, Robert Lyons of Jackson, and Ike Lyons andWillie Lyons, both of Brookhaven; her grandchildren, Cameron andCarmen Smith and Thomas Daniels; and a host of nieces andnephews.

The Rev. James E. Watts

Services for the Rev. James E. Watts of Morton were 11 a.m.,Friday, March 25, at Springfield Baptist Church in Morton withburial in the church cemetery. Ott & Lee Funeral Home was incharge of arrangements.

Mr. Watts, 75, died March 23, 2004, at Scott RegionalHospital.

He was a retired minister. He was a native of Brookhaven. Hegraduated from West Lincoln High School, Clarke College, WilliamCarey College and New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary. He wasan Army veteran serving in the Korean Conflict. He surrendered tothe ministry in 1957, and retired in 1998 with 41 years service. Heserved churches in Louisiana and Mississippi, retiring at BranchBaptist Church in Morton. He had been a resident of Morton for thepast 16 years. After retirement, he remained active in preaching atarea churches when possible. He was an active member of theVeterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) Post No. 5586 at Morton. He enjoyedattending sporting events with his family and friends.

Survivors are his wife, Winifred “Winnie” Watts of Morton; hissons and daughters-in-law, Don and Estelle Watts of Pearl, andDavid and Sheila Watts of Morton; his sister, Dorothy Pickering ofNatchez; his brother, A.C. Watts of Tulsa, Okla.; hisgrandchildren, Amy and Eric Watts, both of Pearl, and Alex andJeremy Watts, both of Morton; and a number of nieces andnephews.
