WESSON — East Central Community College swung the biggest batsSaturday and departed Sullivan Field with a 12-8 victory over theCo-Lin Wolves. The Warriors accounted for 13 hits, including a homerun by catcher Jacob Townsend.

“We didn’t pitch real well in a slugfest,” said Co-Lin headcoach Keith Case. “We had seven walks and two hit batters on theday and five of those scored.”

Cody Savell (1-3), a freshman right-hander from Louisville, gothis first win of the season. He walked 2 batters and struck out 6in 6 innings as the Warriors improved to 9-17 on the season.

The Wolves had the tying run on deck in the ninth but ran out ofgas. Co-Lin third baseman Justin Sykes went 3-for-5 with 3 RBI.Sykes hit a 2-run homer in the ninth.

“East Central had the better team today because they had moreenthusiasm,” said Case. “We let them set the tone of the game.”

The Warriors got 4 hits from Jim Tally.

Sophomore right-hander Cass Brister was the losing pitcher. In2.1 innings, he gave up 4 hits, 4 runs ,walked 4 and fanned 3.

Relief pitcher Jacob Leggett gave up 4 hits, 7 runs, 1 walk and1 strikeout. He also hit 2 batters.

In 3 innings of relief, Justin Smith gave up 1 run on 5 hits. Hestruck out 1 batter and walked 1.

Cole Zumbro doubled and singled for Co-Lin. Keeyon Sandersaccounted for 2 hits.

Collecting single hits for Co-Lin were Casey Ginn, Guy Alleman,Diego Nucete and Jeffrey Waycaster.

Co-Lin (17-7) hosts Delgado (La.) Community College Sundayafternoon for 2 games, starting at 1 p.m.
