Douglas M. Pistole
Graveside services for Douglas M. Pistole of Brookhaven were 10a.m., Tuesday, April 13, in Wellman Baptist Church Cemetery.Brookhaven Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Pistole, 83, died April 10, 2004, at Beverly HealthCare-Brookhaven. He was born in West Palm Beach, Fla., on Jan. 1,1921, to Ray Pistole and Flora Winters Pistole.
He was a retired maintenance worker at Crystal River PlantationInn. He was a World War II veteran.
Preceding him in death were his parents; his wife, Nora BellPistole; and a sister.
Survivors are his daughter, Julie Willoughby of Brookhaven; andhis brothers, Bruce Pistole, Charlie Pistole and Gus Pistole, allof Florida, and Jack Pistole of Missouri.
Parlee Shields
Services for Parlee Shields of Lorain, Ohio, are noon Wednesday,April 14, at New Jerusalem Missionary Baptist Church in Brookhavenwith burial in New Zion Union Cemetery in Bogue Chitto.
Visitation is Tuesday from 1-6 p.m., at Tyler Funeral Home.
Mrs. Shields, 88, died April 3, 2004, at Community HealthPartners Hospital in Lorain. She was born in Brookhaven.
She was a homemaker and worked part-time for Lorain CommunityAction Agency. Mrs. Shields was a member of Shiloh MissionaryBaptist Church in Lorain. She was a past member of New BethelPrimitive Baptist Church in Lorain, and New Jerusalem MissionaryBaptist Church in Brookhaven, where she served on the mother board.Mrs. Shields enjoyed reading and playing bingo. She lived in Lorainfrom 1952-1975, then moved to Brookhaven, and returned to Lorain in2002.
Preceding her in death were her parents, Hillery and IdaCrossley; a daughter, Willie Faye Allen; a son, William ShieldsJr.; three sisters; and four brothers.
Survivors are her husband of 66 years, William Shields; herdaughters, Jennell Chinn of Lorain, and Alma Lewis of Cleveland,Ohio; her sons, Gilbert Shields and James Shields, both of Lorain;her sister, Fay Imes of Lorain; 19 grandchildren; 26great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; and her nieces,nephews and other relatives.
Prentiss Lloyd White
Services for Prentiss Lloyd White of Dubach, La., are 2 p.m.,Wednesday, April 14, at St. Rest Baptist Church with burial in St.Rest Cemetery.
Visitation is Tuesday from 5-8 p.m., at Owens Memorial ChapelFuneral Home in Ruston, La.
Mr. White, 52, died April 11, 2004, at his residence.
He was a truck driver for LA DOTD. He was a native ofBrookhaven.
Survivors are his wife, Martha White of Dubach, La.; and hissisters, Geraldine Cade, Peggy Allgood and Betty Ferrell, all ofBrookhaven; Annie Jewel Brownell of Summit, Carolyn Walton ofTampa, Fla., and Alice Smith of Bogue Chitto.
