CARTHAGE — The West Lincoln Bears remained alive in the Class1A Edinburg Regional Tournament by winning twice Saturday. Theybeat St. Aloysius 11-8 in 8 innings and knocked off Sebastopol 15-8collected 30 hits.

It was a big turnaround for the Bears who lost a 2-1heart-breaker Friday night to the host Edinburg Eagles. The Bears(13-9) play Edinburg Monday at 4 p.m. in the title game. If theBears win, they’ll play again at 7.

“We hit the ball real well in these games today,” said WestLincoln coach Andrew Redd.

West Lincoln 15, Sebastopol 8

Dan Lofton went 5-for-5, collecting 8 RBI. He homered, doubledtwice and singled twice.

Centerfielder Shane Lynch homered and singled. Designated hitterPhil Jarancik singled twice and Case singled twice. Collectingsingle hits were Rushing and Robbie Dees.

“We hit the ball real well in the at game., We kept it in play,”said Redd. Weston Young started on the mound for West Lincoln andwent 4.2 innings. Josh Rushing replaced Young and lasted 1.2innings. Landon Case got the final 2 outs for West Lincoln.

West Lincoln 11, Aloysius 8

St. Al’s Rob Jones hit a grand slam homer in the bottom of theseventh to tie the game at 8-8. Dustin Jones doubled for St. Al.Drew Massanti, Kyle Richard, Jordan Muirhead singled.

West Lincoln was powered by Landon Case who went 4-for-4.

Josh Rushing doubled. Adam Case and Weston singled.

The Bears rallied for 3 runs in the top of the eighth. LandonCase singled, Allen drew a walk and both runners advanced on apassed ball. Lofton’s sacrifice fly to center scored Case with thelead run. Shane Lynch followed with an RBI single for a 10-8lead.

Dees singled to keep the rally alive. Josh Rushing reached on anerror, allowing Lynch to score.

Lofton preserved the win for Landon Case, replacing him in theeighth. “I know Landon was getting a little tired at the end,” saidRedd.

Edinburg 2, West Lincoln 1

Losing pitcher Dan Allen tossed a 5-hitter. He struck out 9batters and walked 1.

Allen doubled in the fourth for an RBI. Catcher Dan Loftonsingled and scored.

Edinburg senior pitcher Randall Cumberland struck out 8 battersand walked 3.

“It was definitely a pitching duel,” said Coach Redd.
