Banquet honors BC athletes

Bogue Chitto honored its athletes Tuesday night with an awardsbanquet at the Brookhaven/Lincoln County Multi-Use Building.Athletes in all sports were recognized last night.
Senior linebacker Todd Davis received the Monty Moak MemorialAward and the FCA Athlete of the Year Award, both presented bybanquet emcee Mickey Myers. Davis also was named MVP in footballand baseball.
Most Valuable Player honors also went to Michael Blackwell infootball, Chastity Avants in slowpitch softball, Marley Porter infastpitch softball, Meleah Brown in girls basketball and IrrieCatchings in boys basketball.
Stanci Long delivered the opening invocation and Marley Porterprovided the closing benediction. Bogue Chitto principal JerryMeador thanked the athletes and their parents and the booster clubfor their enthusiastic support during the school year.
Softball coach Duane Burt announced his plans to step down fromthat position and return to college. His Lady Bobcats reached thethird round of the slowpitch state playoffs. His fastpitch team wonthe division title.
