Services for Jack Edwin Britt of Brookhaven are 11 a.m.,Thursday, May 20, at Mt. Zion Baptist Church with burial in Mt.Zion Cemetery.

Visitation is Wednesday from 5-9 p.m., at Community FuneralServices Chapel, and Thursday from 9-10:30 a.m., at the funeralhome.

Mr. Britt, 63, died May 18, 2004, at Silver Cross Nursing Home.He was born in Lincoln County on Feb. 3, 1941, to Homer W. Brittand Edna Smith.

He was a truck driver for Cisco.

Preceding him in death were his parents; a son, Jackie B.Cannon; and a brother, Homer Britt Jr.

Survivors are his daughter, Michelle B. Warren of Vidalia, La.;his son, Mack Britt of Vidalia; his daughter-in-law, Angela Cannonof Magnolia; his sister and brother-in-law, Marie and Clayton Brittof Wesson; and his grandchildren, Chelsa Cannon of Magnolia, andMacy Hamilton of Vidalia.

Charles Edward Hilliard

Services for Charles Edward Hilliard of Wesson are 1 p.m.,Friday, May 21, at Little Rock Missionary Baptist Church withburial in the church cemetery.

Visitation is Thursday from noon until 6 p.m., at WilliamsMortuary.

Mr. Hilliard, 56, died May 17, 2004, at his residence. He wasborn in Wesson on Dec. 29, 1947, to Henry Hilliard and ZelderHilliard.

He was disabled. He was a member of Little Rock MissionaryBaptist Church.

Preceding him in death were his parents.

Survivors are his sisters and brother-in-law, Dorothy Hill ofBrookhaven, and Ernestine McGee and husband the Rev. Charles McGeeof Wesson; his brothers and sisters-in-law, Edwin and ArterbellHilliard of New Orleans, La., and James E. and Florence Hilliardand Henry and Ann Hilliard, all of Wesson; and a host of aunts,uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Sidney Mize “Butchie” Nations

A memorial service for Sidney Mize “Butchie” Nations ofBrookhaven are 1 p.m., Thursday, May 20, at the Episcopal Church ofthe Redeemer.

Visitation is Thursday from 11 a.m.-1 p.m., at the church.

Mrs. Nations, 60, died May 17, 2004, in Brookhaven. She was bornin Forest on Sept. 11, 1943, to Mr. and Mrs. Joseph SidneyMize.

She was a food columnist for The Clarion-Ledger and a formercaterer.

Mrs. Nations moved to Brookhaven at an early age and graduatedfrom Brookhaven High School and the University of Mississippi.After marrying Jerry Nations in 1964, she taught school at St.Francis parochial school and worked extensively with Girl Scouts.She was an active member of Brookhaven Junior Auxiliary, serving aspresident in 1971. She was the first Brookhaven member of JuniorAuxiliary to be elected to serve as a national officer, takingoffice as national recording secretary in 1973. She was a recipientof the Golden Crown Award for continued volunteerism to hercommunity. She was a member of Willing Hearts Circle, the Climber’sClub and Daughters of the American Revolution. She was a sustainingmember of the Krewe of Ceres. For 20 years, she served as thedirector of the Altar Guild at the Episcopal Church of theRedeemer. She was a past directress of the Mississippi DiocesanAltar Guild.

Being an Ole Miss fan was her favorite past time. She was thefirst woman to serve as president of the Lincoln County AlumniAssociation and was also chosen to serve as a member of theUniversity of Mississippi Alumni Board of Directors. Most Saturdaysin the fall Butchie could be found in “The Grove” cheering for herRebels.

She opened a catering business in Brookhaven in 1985, called”From Butchie’s Basket,” and later became a cooking schoolinstructor with Everyday Gourmet in Jackson. She was a weeklycolumnist for the food section of The Clarion-Ledger.

Preceding her in death were her parents and stepfather, EdgarApplewhite.

Survivors are her husband of 40 years, Jerry Nations; herdaughters and son-in-law, Betsy and Bill Wilson of Hilton Head,S.C., and Nancy Nations of Oxford; and a beloved grandson, WillWilson.
