One suspended; probe gets state note

WESSON — A Copiah-Lincoln Community College employee has beensuspended pending the outcome of an investigation into an incidentthat has also attracted the attention of the state AttorneyGeneral’s office.
Co-Lin President Dr. Howell Garner said he was unable to discussthe nature or details of the probe or the identity of the suspendedemployee. He said the school is conducting an ongoinginvestigation.
“Hopefully, we’ll have that concluded soon,” Garner saidTuesday.
Lee Martin, spokesman for the Attorney’s General’s Office, didnot confirm an investigation by that office. Garner said AG’sofficials had been on campus regarding what he called “an isolatedincident.”
“We are fully cooperating with the process of theinvestigation,” Garner said.
During last week’s meeting, Co-Lin’s Board of Trustees went intoexecutive session to discuss a personnel matter, which Garner saidTuesday was related to the employee situation. No board action wastaken following the closed meeting.
Garner did not discuss details of when the incident surfaced.Under school policy, he said the employee was suspended with paypending the investigation’s outcome.
“We’re taking great pains to do it correctly,” Garner said.
