Sam C. Herndon

Services for Sam C. Herndon of Tucson, Ariz., were 11 a.m.,Wednesday, June 23, at Evergreen Mortuary in Tucson.

Mr. Herndon, 89, died of a stroke on June 19, 2004, in Tucson.He was born in Anson, Texas, on Oct. 9, 1915.

He lived in Lubbock, Anson and Abilene, Texas, for most of hislife until he and his wife, Betty, retired to Tucson several yearsago. He served as a deacon at the Northside Church of Christ inAbilene for many years while he raised his family in Abilene. Hewas a World War II Army Air Corps veteran.

Preceding him in death were his parents and his first wife,Dorothy Ernestine “Tenny” Cox Herndon.

Survivors are his wife, Betty Herndon; his daughter, DaisyHerndon; his sons, Dr. Caleb W. Herndon and his wife, Dr. NatalieB. Herndon of Brookhaven, and Ted Herndon of Tucson; hisgrandchildren, Natalie Herndon Howard and her husband Jeffrey LenHoward and Caleb W. Herndon II (Billy); two step-children, Dianaand Ronnie Warner; and several step-grandchildren.

Memorials may be sent to Brookway Church of Christ in Brookhavenor to the Mississippi Children’s Home Society.

Robert Earl Richardson

Services for Robert Earl Richardson of Brookhaven are 2 p.m.,Saturday, June 26, at Bethel A.M.E. Church with burial in CarverHeights Cemetery.

Visitation is Friday from noon to 6 p.m., at Williams Mortuaryand there will be a family hour on Saturday from 1-2 p.m. at thechurch.

Mr. Richardson, 59, died June 20, 2004, at his residence. He wasborn in Lincoln County on Aug. 23, 1945, to Bishop Richardson Sr.and Gladys Smith Richardson.

He was retired.

Preceding him in death were his parents; two sisters, Anna RuthDavis and Jean Richardson; and his brothers, Bishop Richardson Jr.,Paul Richardson and Isaiah Richardson.

Survivors are his daughters, Gladys Richardson of Seattle,Wash., Nicole Farfara of Las Vegas, Nev., JoAnna Bennett andFelicia Hayes of Monticello, and Trina Newman, Rotunda RichardsonMontgomery and Kizzy Richardson McInnis, all of Gulfport; his sons,Patrick Richardson and Morris Richardson, both of Seattle, RobertEarl Richardson Jr. of Waterloo, Iowa, and Leon Hayes and LamontHayes, both of Gulfport; two sisters, Alma Barrette of San Diego,Calif., and Hazel Burks and her husband, Daniell, of Southfield,Mich.; 23 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and a host ofnieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
