Prince powers Lady Panthers to huge win

VICKSBURG — Brookhaven’s Kayla Prince ripped a home run, atriple, a double and a single Thursday night to power the LadyPanthers to a lopsided 26-0 whipping over the Vicksburg LadyGators.

Brittany Smith (2-2) hurled a no-hitter with one strikeout andone walk. Losing hurler Amy Smith (0-1) walked two and struck outone batter.

Also collecting four hits at the plate for Brookhaven was TaylorCrane with four singles. Smashing a triple and two singles wasAshley Sykes. Three singles were collected by Brittany Smith.Doubling and singling was Kelly Vinson.

Adding support to the Lady Panther win with a triple was LaurenSmith Terri Hodges, Allyson Wallace and Christi Martin belted twosingles apiece. Singling wore Katie Smith, Katie Stewart, SebrinaDelaughter and Cary Anne Rake.

Brookhaven, coached by Lisa Covington and John Ogden, travels toWest Lincoln Tuesday for a doubleheader. The junior varsity beginsat 5 p.m. followed by the varsity at 6.
