Bogue Chitto 6-1 over North Pike

BOGUE CHITTO — The Bogue Chitto Lady Bobcats posted a 6-1slowpitch softball victory over the North Pike Lady JaguarsThursday night. The Lady Bobcats are 4-0 on the season. The LadyJags are 2-2.

In the junior varsity game, Bogue Chitto crushed North Pike13-4.

“We had a very good effort against a good team,” said BogueChitto coach Scott Leggett. “I told my girls its time to see whatwe are made of. We played good against a good North Pike team.”

Danielle Sasser posted the win and Jenna Dickerson absorbed theloss with one strikeout and two walks in varsity action.

North Pike tied the game at 1-1 in the top of the second inning.Bogue Chitto exploded for four runs in the bottom of the second andone in the third for the 6-1 lead and eventual win.

Bogue Chitto outhit North Pike 10-7. The Lady Jags committed twoerrors.

Candace Braxton belted a home run for the Lady Bobcats. CandaceAvants and Meleah Brown ripped two singles apiece. Devon Welch,Kayla Smith, Dori Hall and Sasser singled.

Leading the Lady Jags with a pair of singles was EmilyVanLandingham. Tripling was Maggie Dunaway. Casey Dickerson,Brittney Moak, Kaitlyn Perry and Jenna Dickerson hit safely.

“We did not play the way we needed to play,” said North Pikecoach Sonya Wallace. “We could not hit the gaps. We did not show upto play like we are supposed to.”

In the JV game, Kelli Howard and Caitlin Owen led Bogue Chittowith 2 singles apiece. Blasting a triple was Hannah Nichols.Shaquille Burton, Blaine Myers, Morgan Roberts, Chassity Moak andAmanda Owen singled.

North Pike was paced on Tori Gaskin’s double. Singling wereKayla Stockton, Tori Gaskin, Tyeshia Holmes, Hali Sasser, KelseyLord, Victoria Etheridge, Candace Carlos and BreannaMcKlemurry.

Owen got the win with five walks and Stockton took the loss withsix walks.

In Tuesday’s games, Bogue Chitto travels to McComb and NorthPike entertains Franklin County.
