Members of the Mississippi National Guard’s 106th SupportBattalion Headquarters Company depart Monticello for Camp Shelby onTuesday to prepare for eventual deployment to Iraq, and their lovedones here will grapple with a range of emotions.
Just a few days later, solders from Detachment 2 of the 155thSeparate Armored Brigade also will head to Camp Shelby.
With these soldiers away, the communities they leave behindwill, quite naturally, be concerned for their well-being untiltheir safe return.
But foremost, these soldiers should know their friends andfamilies as well as many whom they do not personally know are proudof them – proud of their patriotism, proud of their service andproud of their sacrifice.
These men and women – all voluntary members of our nation’sarmed forces – periodically take time from their busy lives totrain for their important military roles. Now, they will put theirlives at home on hold to serve their country and preserve ourfreedom.
All these brave men and women are in our thoughts and ourprayers. God bless and Godspeed.
