WESSON — The Lawrence County Lady Cougars pushed home thewinning run in the top of the seventh inning and eluded Wesson’sLady Cobras 7-6 Tuesday in slowpitch softball action. Wesson hadgained a 6-6 deadlock in the bottom of the sixth with a 4-runrally.

Kaila Givens pitched the victory, striking out 2 and walkingnone. Losing hurler Julie Berry fanned none and walked one.

At the plate, Sonni Smith led Lawrence County with a homer.Emily Smith singled twice, tripled and doubled. Cori Walker singledtwice and tripled.

The Lady Cougars got 2 hits from Jessica Johnson and RyaneGarrett. Maygan McCloud, Kaila Givens, Rhienna Garrett and EllieFairburn singled.

Wesson got a 2 singles and a triple from Nikki McCardle. BethanyDykes doubled and singled. Sam Ellison tripled. Monica Garciadoubled. Perry Furr singled twice. Haleigh Young, Lauren Smith andBerry singled.

In the JV game, Lawrence County rolled to a 19-1 victory.Garrett pitched the win and Brooke King took the loss.

Wesson hosts Enterprise and Lawrence County entertains NatchezCathedral Thursday. The JV game starts the twinbill at 5 p.m.
