Services for Rossie F. Branton of Brookhaven, formerly ofLawrence County, were 1 p.m., Friday, Aug. 27, at Colonial FuneralHome Chapel in Columbia with burial in Woodlawn Cemetery inColumbia. Dr. Bill Miller and the Rev. Derick Lambertofficiated.
Mr. Branton, 84, died at King’s Daughters Medical Center. He wasborn to Frank and Lutisha Branton.
He was a a retired bus operator of 35 years with ContinentalTrailways. He was a 50-year Mason at the St. Albans Lodge No. 60F&AM of Columbia. He was a member of Bethel Baptist Church inMonticello. He was married for 58 years to Mary John MooreBranton.
Preceding him in death were his parents; two daughters, Mary AnnBranton and Janette Schaefer; three brothers, Zollie, Lowery andSercie Branton; three sisters, Cora Chance, Ita Daniels and SadieDaniels; and one great-grandson, Chad Moore.
Survivors are his wife; his son, Rossie Branton Jr. and hiswife, Jerry, of Monticello; his two adopted grandsons, John Brantonand his wife Jasmine, of Brookhaven, and Steven Branton and hiswife, Elisa, of Livonia, Mich.; his grandson, Ron Schaefer and hiswife, Lisa, of Genesso, Ill; his granddaughter, Kathy Moore and herhusband, Bob, of Hope Mills, N.C.; his two sisters, Hazel Brady ofSilver Creek and Nelda McPhail of Carson; his two brothers RayBranton of Houston, Texas, and Roy Branton of Prentiss; his 10great-grandchildren, Ty, Kennedy, Austin, Nicholas, Lindsey MarieBranton, Robin and Megan Schaefer, Tiffany and Bradley Moore, andEmily Dalton; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins andfriends.
Pallbearers were Steven Branton, John Branton, Ron Schaefer,Mike Felber, Thomas Allen Pittman and Ford Berry.
