Ray Dorman Stokes

Services for Ray Dorman Stokes of Brookhaven were 2 p.m. Sunday,Sept. 5 at Community Funeral Services Chapel with burial inWoodlawn Cemetery in Summit.

Mr. Stokes, 78, died Sept. 2, 2004, at University of MississippiMedical Center in Jackson. He was born in Eldorado, Ark., on Dec.28, 1925, to George Stokes and Edna Wooley Stokes.

He was a retired signal maintainer for Illinois Central Railroadwhere he had worked for 44 years. He was an ordained deacon of theBaptist faith. He was a proud veteran of the United States Navy andserved two years in World War II as a minesweeper aboard the USSSkirmish. He was married for 57 years to Mildred Herring Stokes ofBrookhaven.

Preceding him in death were his parents; and one sister, HelenLofton.

Survivors are his wife; his daughter, Sherry Foster ofBrookhaven; his son, Rodney Stokes of Madison; his brother, GeorgeStokes of Gretna, La.; his grandsons, Anthony Foster and his wife,Cindy, of Brookhaven, and Alex, Aaron and Austin Stokes of Madison;one aunt; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Memorials may be made to Southway Baptist Church BuildingFund.

Inez Tillotson

Services for Inez Tillotson of McCall Creek are 11 a.m. Friday,Sept. 10 at Franklin Funeral Home Chapel with burial in New SalemChurch Cemetery in McCall Creek.

Visitation is 5-10 p.m. Thursday and 8-11 a.m. Friday at thefuneral home.

Mrs. Tillotson, 84, died Sept. 8, 2004, at her residence. Shewas born in Franklin County on Nov. 23, 1919, to Ervin Wilson andLula Bell Jackson Wilson.

She was a homemaker. She was a member of New Salem BaptistChurch.

Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband, F.F.Tillotson; two brothers; and one sister.

Survivors are her daughter, Patsy Foster of McCall Creek; herson, Freddie Tillotson of Brookhaven; seven grandchildren; and 15great grandchildren.
